  • The Circle of Life by Sarah Taylor (16 yrs)
    by Karin Taylor

I often find myself gazing out my window, oblivious to my surroundings, watching the crystal clear water roll up the sand, it’s what I do…

Sarah (my daughter) wrote this piece recently for school, I thought it was very moving and special. It is a fictional story but Sarah has drawn from her own feelings and life situation… she has had a tough year with getting through Glandular Fever only to find she has post-viral fatigue and gone from being very active to very exhausted, she has had to give up dancing and sport for the time being and it’s been very hard on her…. I hope you enjoy reading the story she’s written, I am very very proud of her

  • Circularity
    by jcmontgomery

coming full circle is the path we wend / we always end as we begin

Inspired by Poefusion – Learning the Pantoum The Pantoum is a repeating form written in quatrains (four line stanzas). The 2nd and 4th lines of each stanza become the 1st and 3rd of the next one. In the last stanza, the 2nd and 4th lines repeat the first stanza’s 1st and 3rd lines to bring the pantoum full circle.

This is about feeling a more than a little crazed and confused, because you are being forced to swim in cirlces. First you are punished for being to sexual, and then you need to be sexual in order to go forward. And the worst part is they tore up the damned pillow, so that makes it difficult.

  • WHAT DO YOU GET WHEN YOU FALL IN LOVE?
    by JaneAParis

    - hum a drum – to have your boyfriend tell you not to play with him, when that is all he wants to do with you…

This is about being at the mercy of a bunch of people who never-endingly play with your realities, and being forced to go in endless circles. This is about a real Alice in Wonderland trip I took to France, although I never caught the White Rabbit, I did meet up with the Mad Hatter.

  • SIGNIFICUNT
    by JaneAParis

    I am significunt / and I know it, / at least I was / now I think I’ve blown it…

This is about having your whole life revolve around your sexuality, whether you like it or not. It is also about realizing this and feeling like a deer in the path of an oncoming car that has its headlights on bright. It is also about being being ill, and having to deal with the fact that your illness is contributing to your problem, for the good and/or the bad. And lastly, it is about wanting someone to love you without games or lies.
