  • First Tree
    by Carrie Glenn

    US$4.66–US$106.40

Acrylic and pastel on illustration paper. (1995) This is truly the first tree I ever painted, the need to paint and create was something brewing so strongly inside I had to do something about it. Yet my resources were very limited, I grabbed the only paint I had any access to, a can of my father’s black spray paint, I sprayed it into the lid of the can and used the only paintbrush I owned a cheep nylon brush from a water color kit and created. I then finished my work with the only two pastels I owned brown and black. / Necessity is the mother of invention, or maybe it’s that there is more than one way to skin a cat. (Sorry cat lovers) At any rate I grew up in a home with very few luxuries but I did have a passion to create, always, I had to feed the creativity. So this is a very special piece to me and I hope to you as well. First Tree is officially published in Artists of West First Tree was Featured in Lifestyles Magazine as part of an article about the Artists of the West coffee table book. I am also honored to announce my painting First Tree was a part of the Rialto Towers two week art exhibit in Melbourne, Australia in of July 2007 For commissioned work you can contact Carrie at: carrie@carrieglennstudios.com and please visit Carrie Glenn Studios*

  • The Maiden, The Mother and The Crone From the original acrylic on 100cm x 100cm canvas. Metallic and glitter overlays… I started this mandala the week before one of my close girl friends was diagnosed with lung cancer and finished four months later – the week after she died. It was a hugely cathartic work and the three phases of the goddess reflect the changes in me over the years. I have been the warrior maiden; mothered my child and have entered into the spiritual crone phase of my life… This is a work in progress. Every year I add something to the picture as it reflects my journey through this life. Bright Blessings to all:) all rights reserved mt2008 !!

  • Born from the Hand
    by Mui-Ling Teh

    US$4.66–US$106.40

I used tweezers to create the last few folds. The paper I folded with was about 15×15mm big. Basically I present the creator and the creation where the crane is framed by my fingers forming a circle. We can only understand size, fragility and significance when we compare two things. When we think, for example, how big the world is, we’re like tiny little specks of sand, or even atoms, to the eyes of a God holding the earth in his palm. I did not make this crane and take the picture with the description in my mind; but created it by instinct. It wasn’t easy drawing out my words initially. However many viewers have left very inspiring comments about my work, and for that I am grateful. Thank you.
