  • I´ve been thinking for a long time on a tribute to this monumental song written by Cole Porter, which is also a signature song for Frank Sinatra. I´d have liked to present a more appropiate version, but this is what finally came up to my mind. / I know this is a worldwide wellknown hit song of all times; anyhow here´s the link to one of those remarkable Sinatra performances. / I´ve got you under my skin

  • Well, I´m not even talking about the young men of my generation; I was a kid when Marlene Dietrich already was an old dame; but I heard the stories.

  • This is my tribute to one of the most innovative films I´ve ever seen in years. / The Pillow Book is a 1996 film by UK director Peter Greenaway; main character is Nagiko, a Japanese model. / “The film is a rich and artistic melding of dark modern drama with idealized Chinese and Japanese cultural themes and settings, and centers around body painting.” / “As a young girl in Japan, Nagiko’s father paints characters on her face, and her aunt reads to her from “The Pillow Book”, the diary of a 10th-century lady-in-waiting. Nagiko grows up, obsessed with books, papers, and writing on bodies, and her sexual odyssey (and the creation of her own Pillow Book) is a “parfait mélange” of classical Japanese, modern Chinese, and Western film images.” Well, for those who haven´t seen this film, I highly recommend it. A brief of this film can be found here). Main female figure with clothes and accesories and props conform a cinema4D render; the rest was done in postwork by blending photo-layers and a bit of digital painting.

  • My Funny Valentine
    by Danilo Lejardi

    US$3.99–US$91.20

“My Funny Valentine” is a show tune from the 1937 Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart musical “Babes in Arms”. In the original play, a character named Billie Smith (played by Mitzi Green) sings the song to Valentine “Val” LaMar (played by Ray Heatherton). / In the song, Billie pokes fun at some of Valentine’s characteristics, but ultimately affirms that he makes her smile and that she doesn’t want him to change. / It is now considered a jazz standard, appearing on over 1300 albums performed by over 600 artists; also, it is considered part of the Great American Songbook. Lyrics. Behold the way our fine feathered friend, / His virtue doth parade / Thou knowest not, my dim-witted friend / The picture thou hast made / Thy vacant brow, and thy tousled hair / Conceal thy good intent / Thou noble upright truthful sincere, / And slightly dopey gent Youre my funny valentine, / Sweet comic valentine, / You make me smile with my heart. / Your looks are laughable, un-photographable, / Yet, youre my favorite work of art. Is your figure less than greek? / Is your mouth a little weak? / When you open it to speak, are you smart? / But, dont change a hair for me. / Not if you care for me. / Stay little valentine, stay! / Each day is valentines day

  • Most of you have heard this song. You know, Where Have All the Cowboys Gone is the name of a song by Paula Cole. / Basically, it´s about a woman who for all her life dreamed of being a cowboy’s wife. One day she does indeed marry one of these “cowboys”. But over the years she discovers her dream man doesn’t live up to her expectations, and finds herself an unhappy housewife, asking to the heavens where all the cowboys went. / Here I tried to put the song into another context, another culture; perhaps, closer to the universe that surrounds me everyday. Cause I think the essence of this song perfectly fits everywhere, all the time. And here are the lyrics: Where Have All The Cowboys Gone Oh you get me ready in your 56 chevy / Why dont we go sit down in the shade / Take shelter on my front porch / The dandy lion sun scorching, / Like a glass of cold lemonade / I will do laundry if you pay all the bills Chorus: Where is my john wayne / Where is my prairie son / Where is my happy ending / Where have all the cowboys gone Why dont you stay the evening / Kick back and watch the tv / And Ill fix a little something to eat / Oh I know your back hurts from working on the tractor / How do you take your coffee my sweet / I will raise the children if you pay all the bills Chorus I am wearing my new dress tonight / But you dont even notice me / Say our goodbyes (3 times) We finally sold the chevy / When we had another baby / And you took that job in tennessee / You made friends at the farm / And you joined them at the bar / Almost every single day of the week I will wash the dishes while you go have a beer / Where is my john wayne / Where is my prairie son / Where is my happy ending / Where have all the cowboys gone / Where is my marlboro man / Where is his shiny gun / Where is my lonely ranger / Where have all the cowboys gone / Yippee aw, yippee yea (3 times)

    by Danilo Lejardi

    US$3.99–US$91.20

Inspired by Christopher Cross´s “Sailing”. / Lyrics: / It’s not far down to paradise / At least it’s not for me / And if the wind is right you can sail away / And find tranquility / The canvas can do miracles / Just you wait and see / Believe me It’s not far to never never land / No reason to pretend / And if the wind is right you can find the joy / Of innocence again / The canvas can do miracles / Just you wait and see / Believe me Sailing / Takes me away / To where I’ve always heard it could be / Just a dream and the wind to carry me / And soon I will be free Fantasy / It gets the best of me / When I’m sailing / All caught up in the reverie / Every word is a symphony / Won’t you believe me It’s not far back to sanity / At least it’s not for me / And when the wind is right you can sail away / And find serenity / The canvas can do miracles / Just you wait and see / Believe me

  • A few days ago I read artist Rosa Cobos´s Tarot:Mirror and SoulPathway. Needless to say, I left fascinated and felt the urgent need to recreate one of the Tarot cards; I chose “The Hanged” _ and still don´t know why. / Once I completed the image I sent it to Rosa, and this is what she sent back to me. The Hanged. / Text By Rosa Cobos / Supreme quietness… / submmission to the unavoidable. / I would love to sustain my strength in that light, / so temping and methodic. / It is supposed to drag me out of the pit, / illuminate my ciborg-like entrails, / but I am not listening to any shinning voices.. / repting voluptuously up to heaven. / I need to root… mind and heart.. / I need to let my thoughts… images and ego / rot… like the fallen leaves, / I need to close my phantom eyes… / that seem to see beyond the unseen. / But they do not. / Resisting to meet the real void, / the entralis assembly of twisted conducts. / I have walked a long journey to become still.. / bruising my kneess.. / until I got to the Supreme Cave of desillussion. / I need to darken my skin, / white marbled, resisting to rust, oxidize…. / the blood that is sucking from the acid vegetation. / No one will tresspass my threshold of meditation. / On one… / not even myself, / for I need to forget, / the name, / the rank, / the place.. / where .. / as a young soldier, / I had been fighting, / the eternal war. Rosa Thank you, my dear Rosa

  • I created this image in order to present a video I made for Redbubble artist Claudia Alves as a gift. I consider she has developed a very unique style in digital painting and wanted to celebrate it. / You can see the video here / The music for the video is the song “Love´s lines, angles and rhymes” by the Fifth Dimension _I edited it a bit. Lyrics: / Love’s Lines, Angles, and Rhymes / The 5th Dimension / (Dorothea Joyce) Love leads the lines of love in circles and angles / Love runs deep like a tunnel with a pendulum beat / That touches the heart in many directions / Moving the mind in silent reflection / Of the lines that touch the corners and fibers / Of the feeling that keeps running inside you / Cycles of fears with the longing and tears / Lettin’ out the needs and laughter of / Sunshine, love shine / Touching the fibers of the feeling inside you / Letting out the things you hide / Need leads the lines of love in circles and angles / Need runs deep like a tunnel with a pendulum beat / That touches the heart in many directions / Moving the mind in silent reflection / Of the lines that touch the corners and fibers / Of the feeling that keeps running inside you / Cylinders of hope turning and yearning / Into pendulums of weary hes… / ...itation, contemplation / Of the angles and rhymes and the triangle lines / The feeling touching mine with time / Want leads the lines of love in circles and angles / Want runs deep like a tunnel with a pendulum beat / That touches the heart in many directions / Moving the mind in silent reflection / Of the angles and rhymes of the circles and lines / With the tunnels of love running over / Taking the mind and triangle rhyme / And twisting it to fill the cup of / Sunshine, love shine / Touching the fibers of the feeling inside you / Letting out the things you hide / That touches the heart in many directions / Moving the mind in silent reflection / Of the lines that touch the corners and fibers / Of the feeling that keeps running inside you / Cylinders of hope turning and yearning / Into pendulums of weary hesitation / Taking the line and triangle rhyme and twisting it / To bend the mind in all directions / It’s love and want and need and all those things / Tearing you apart

  • Paint Me Black Angels
    by Danilo Lejardi

    US$3.99–US$28.50

There´s this old classic Latinamerican song (“Angelitos Negros”/ “Little Black Angels”)_ it was created around the 40s, with music by M. Álvarez Maciste, and lyrics by Andrés Eloy Blanco, an important Venezuelan poet. / It has been sung not only by famous Latin American singers but by world-wide reknown artists such as Nina Pastori and Nana Mouskouri. Words reflect a sort of lament, a complaint: someone asking painters why they don´t paint black angels. Needless to say, it inmediately became an hymn to antirracism in its time. / I haven´t found any decent English translation of the song, here´s a verse for you to have an idea: / “Whenever you paint churches / You paint beautiful little angels / but you´ve always forgotten to paint / Little black angels”. Here´s the link to a YouTube video where famous mexican singer Pedro Infante sing “Angelitos Negros” during a scene of a movie with the same title: / http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8V-EkTeX7U Here´s the most (known) popular segment of the song in Spanish: / / “Pintor nacido en mi tierra / con el pincel extranjero / pintor que sigues el rumbo / de tantos pintores viejos. I know this angel of mine is not so “little”; but it was the best way I could find to tribute this unforgettable song.
