Self-portrait, Hawai’i – 2004 Very strange time in my life – this is right after the back injury – i was confined to this bed, for the most part – my days were spent writing and taking self-portraits. My apartment looked like a mental ward, with its cinderblock walls. / I felt as though i were in a mental-ward. When i first posted this on beta Flickr, that was the comment i got most often. / “So, like, are you taking these photos in a psych-ward?”
