  • My intention when I did this painting was to take an everyday situation – like looking out for the post-man and turning it into a vibrant and alive moment in time! / No matter how small and trivial things may seem – there is always something else going on: one just has to take a look at that poor fish! I lik this painting, my friends say it makes them feel like ”...putting on their dancing shoes!” / (It’s a frustrating fact, but for some reason this painting just won’t upload to the right proportions – it’s living it’s title to the full – and just NOT conforming!) Please visit my blog for more of my artwork or for inquiries on original paintings if I still have them available.

  • Acrylic On Canvas

  • Often those we believe we are closest too are no more than strangers in our lives. Acrylic On Canvas. Original Painting is 110cm x 110cm. / Painted 13.10.2007

  • Water colour with a touch of pastel.

  • Take another look honey! Mixed Medium On Canvas.

  • Acrylic & Silver Foil On Canvas Specially added for Sorinna – Thanks for looking at my blog and requesing this for purchase, hope you enjoy!

  • Mixed Medium on canvas… approx A3 in size. Hi everyone, I did this, this afternoon, it took me an hour, exploring with mixed medium. Inspired by Billylee and her print making… so incorporated some printing, water colour, collage and inks… Probably something I should varnish… but if it’s framed behind glass not sure if I’ll risk it. Have no idea what it should be titled so maybe you can help me … I have been part of RB since mid October and never had a work on the featured pages… could this be it? Looking forward to your comments and feedback, I know it’s not my usual style, but / hopefully someone out there likes it!

  • Mixed Mediums on Canvas.

  • Pastel On Board – Approximate size 65×45 cm. 12.12.2007 Dabbling with pastels again… wow, alot more challenging than paint! Oops, I just remembered, this is the finished version of ‘untitled’ which has been loitering my pages for the past two weeks. Below is the previous unfinished work which received overwhelming support – thought I would post it for those of you who wanted to compare or couldn’t remember… /

  • This quirky painting is of my cat Zorro and his favourite food, fresh snapper! Acrylic On Canvas, measuring 60×60cm. Just a fun painting I did earlier this year when I first thought that this would be a good time in the year when I made a decision to rekindle and embrace my creativity.

  • As some of you know I am having a bit of a pre new-year overhall today. I found this among some of my work. I thought I would share it. It’s very rare, because I only did about 3 artworks between 1997 and 2006 (LOL – seriously)! This work was done in mixed medium and happened when a friend suggested I try get back into creating artwork, so here it is! Needless to say I am very grateful to my friend who got me back into my passion! Thanks Shaun.

  • Inspired by the textures of luxury and oppulance this painting has been created using mediums ranging from acrylic, glue, inks, gold leaf, shellac, pastel and layers of various papers. Please view the large version of this painting if you have the time, I believe it shows the details and textures much better. I will be very interested in your comments as this painting presented many hurdles during the process, some mediums just don’t like working together! Pastel is not traditionally varnished, but I have defied tradition! For developement of the painting you can view my journal entry where I have uploaded a few pictures of this work in progress. Now that it is complete I will upload a few more of the stages of developement for those interested, yes BillyLee – I am thinking of you : ) Thanks for viewing and leaving your comments. Carmen : )

  • This painting is inspired by the healing elements provided by mother nature and patterns and textures from around the world. Unfortunately much of the fine detail and penwork is lost in the photograph, the original work needs to be viewed to really appreciate the beauty and detail. (Perhaps you could take the time to view the larger version..) The painting has been painted using a variety of professional artist quality mediums including water colour, inks, acrylic paint, gold leaf and shellac. Size approx 60×40cm. It seems to make a nice card, not sure about it with a black frame, though…? / although… not too bad framed. Look forward to reading your comments, Thanks as always! X C

  • A glimpse into the lives of those who live alone in busy cities. Acrylic on Canvas By Carmen Cilliers. / Painted aprox 6.06.2008

  • Mixed Media on Paper (Approx 82×52cm) Not sure – think I need to do a few finishing touches on the original but I am very happy with the way this photographed.

  • Mixed Medium on canvas. The original is now currently for sale This painting was formerly / but it never really grew on me and I had it on Ebay for a while and it didn’t sell there so I decided to take the plunge and work over it. So, the result is this rather nice (if I may say so myself) mixed medium painting which was really enjoyable to create. Thank you : )

  • Not sure of the title for this painting yet. It will reveal itself soon enough and when it does I will update accordingly! Mixed mediums on canvas. Keep safe, x Carmen. The original is now currently on sale

Also, it was good to experiment using the acrylic in a different way – and I love the spiritual symbolism of the lotus flower.

  • (Uploaded especially for my new friend Mike Scholl. You must check out his work – brilliant!) 75×100 x 3.8cm Acrylic on Canvas. There is an exhibition coming up and I have been asked to submit 8 pieces of figurative work. I thought I had completed this last September but it’s just bugged me! Anyway last week I decided to work on it again. So, originally we had this (rather unattractive boring red head) / / and with a few alterations we now have this much more friendly gal.

  • Mixed Media on / Canvas.
