I retouched face, hair & recreated arched eyebrows for further definition; left eye was ‘opened’ up to match right eye. Ingrid added b/w desaturated tone, painted lips, bodice lace & sheet in red tone. Original before shot image below.

Smoking is a practice where a substance, most commonly tobacco, is burned and the smoke tasted or inhaled. This is primarily done as a form of recreational drug use, as combustion releases the active substances in drugs such as nicotine and makes them available for absorption through the lungs. It can also be done as a part of rituals, to induce trances and spiritual enlightenment. The most common method of smoking today is through cigarettes, either industrially manufactured or rolled with loose tobacco and a rolling paper. Other forms, though not as common, are pipes, cigars, hookahs and bongs.(wikipedia.org)

Ian Rilen was a legendary Sydney rock and roller and a member of bands such as Rose Tattoo, X and Sardine V. He died earlier this year and is much missed for his wild and wonderful ways. I found this candid back stage shot of him and his then wife Stephanie preparing to go onstage at the Trade Union Club in Sydney’s Surry Hills way way back in the early 80’s. They were in Sardine V at that time and when I look at this shot now the eighties rush back. Oh my misspent youth. :) So Vale Ian Rilen, I so hope things are rocking were ever you are. This shot is for you.

Isn’t another bad day (yet again) on the stock markets the perfect time to show you my latest still life in the “nostalgia” series, entitled: the stock market. / As usual, old and new elements are mingled together. The painted with light technique was used again, as well as digital manipulation to get the end result I was after. / It’s strange, I spent months planning this shot, preparing and getting the props and then in a few hours time it’s shot. It’s almost an anti-climax. / Well, I hope you enjoy it! / By the way, this is the fourth installment in this series, I’m withholding the second one which I consider my masterpiece in this series. P/S Retouched by Ange. Digital Photograph shot by Stak Constantinou. (2007). Model: Ashley. Hair & Makeup: Gemma Parsons. I retouched/airbrushed higher facing shoulder, a blemish on the arm & evened out fringe hairline with emphasis on the eyebrows for further definition (filling them in). Also added extra hundreds & thousands to the outer edges of her lips were they’d come off during the shoot. Model (& photographer) were initially put off with the styling & she couldn’t even speak with the stuff stuck to her lips but it worked a treat for the shoot. Photographer Stak is a colleague of mine (photography lecturer at Raffles – KvB). Crazy day on the shoot but always a pleasure to work with. People find this shot somewhat amusing…it is tongue in cheek…re: high fashion photography. Original before shot image below.
