Central and eastern Oregon is spotted with once vibrant farming communities that today exist as little more than a crossroads. This old church served such a community. This shot was taken at Dawn from the building I work in it shows the Spire of St Francis Xavier Church at Lavender Bay in the North Sydney CBD. The Sydney Harbour Bridge links the North Sydney CBD with the Sydney CBD. There has been a church on the site since the early days of the settlement of the colony of Sydney Town. The shot was taken using a Nikon D300, Nikon 18 – 200mm lens , for any Nikononians the 18-200mm lens is wonderful it comes in handy as a all purose lens. The shot was created from 4 exposures and processed with Photomatix HDR software. So continues my exploration of HDR.. its fun

This was taken inside the Cathedral of Toledo, in Spain. It was taken on film and the print was scanned to digital. The Cathedral of Saint Mary of Toledo, also called Primate Cathedral of Toledo, is a church in Spain. The seat of the Archdiocese of Toledo, it is one of the three 13th century High Gothic cathedrals in Spain and is considered to be the magnum opus of the Gothic style in Spain. It was begun in 1226 during the reign of Ferdinand III and the last Gothic contributions were made in the 15th century when, in 1493, the vaults of the central nave were finished, during the times of the Catholic Monarchs.

Notre Dame, Paris, captial city of France. The last in my Notre Dame series. I created six versions of this shot, trying different textures, colours and layers, but this was the first one that moved toward a theme or emotion that I wanted. It feels quite lonely and stripped of hope to me, but I’m sure it will have varied meaning to the individual. 8 layers of texture from www.deviantart.com free use stock – Amurrr. Lightened each layer, adjusted hue and colour levels, blended each with 3 layers of the photo, one b&w, one colour and one desaturated. Flattened image and further colour tweaking and adjusting.
