Lorraine Creagh nominated this image for the Pay it Forward group. / Here’s what she said about this image: I love the feeling that I get with the image. Loneliness, peace and age. I wonder how many people have sat on those benches in contemplation. The colouring and aged treatment that Kimberly has given it works so well for this shot Thank you Lorraine, you are a sweet friend! Funny how something so ordinary, can be so interesting. Captured on my way out of the Bruton Parish Episcopal Church, in Colonial Williamsburg. One of the oldest Episcopal churches in the United States, Bruton has been serving members since 1715. Famous past worshipers include presidents Washington, Tyler, Monroe and Jefferson.

Taken at Southwell Minster, Nottinghamshire, England. The minster is one of the most interesting and beautiful buildings I have ever been to. Southwell Minster dates back to the 12th century. It was once the retreat of the Archbishop of York. During the English Civil War, it was believed to be used as a stables for Cromwell. Southwell only became a diocese in the the late 19th Century. The window are so beautiful in the Minster. On this particular day, the light came streaming through by mid-morning. I love this shot. The ancient pillars become beautiful pallets of colour.

Port Arthur. A place with a history of violence both recent and centuries past. Why should it be then that I feel so at home here? Countless restless souls both innocent and guilty surely prowl the grounds and should create a miasma of misery that is palpable and yet… whenever I step inside the walls of this old church I feel an overwhelming sense of peace permeate my very soul. Welcome to my sanctuary. Best viewed large

Thanks for viewing. Few people there are who have not turned to prayer at some point in their lives. Many find hope and answers; others become bitter. The lighting on this was very complex. Hope you enjoy it. Rob
