  • "Take no thought for your life." Matthew 6:25 How good those words sound from our God, but how difficult they are to put into practice out in the world. In this teaching Jesus is telling us to make seeking Him the priority of our lives, and He will take care of all of our needs. What I often forget is that Jesus already knows about my needs and circumstances, not only for today, but for the future. Help me Father to focus my life on following and pleasing You. Lead me to excellent places with Your wonderful council and wisdom. This painting was inspired by the powerful devotions penned and published by Oswald Chambers in the early 1900’s. His powerful book, My Utmost for His Highest, continues to touch my life and draw me closer to Jesus. I hope that this art and verse do the same for you! Read the devotional from My Utmost For His Highest that inspired this work. Look Again and Think, VerseVisions® Art; Matthew 6:25. Mark Lawrence, 2008. Digital mixed media on canvas, 36×36 inches. • "If God so clothe the grass of the field . . . shall He not much more clothe you?" Matthew 6:30 We have a field of sunflowers near our home that a farmer plants every summer. When the field is in full bloom it is amazing to see the majestic blooming flowers standing and waving under the bright sun. Although the road is busy you can’t help yourself but to slow down to take in the beauty and peace of the moment as you pass by. I wish I could have been there to see how the crowd received Jesus’ message when he spoke these words. What a contrast to consider how God cares for even the flowers and birds of His creation. The flowers of the field bloom in response to His provision, the birds sing to Him in joy during the day. How much more simple would my life be if I would only consecrate myself to consider and honor Him as the Almighty Living God who calls me by my name? This painting was inspired by the powerful devotions penned and published by Oswald Chambers in the early 1900’s. His powerful book, My Utmost for His Highest, continues to touch my life and draw me closer to Jesus. I hope that this art and verse do the same for you! • Shot this yesterday…nice cloudy day

  • This is a panoramic image. / Converted to black and white. Not much detail in the faces below but otherwise, the hilites aren’t blown out too much. My wife’s brother was ordained as a deacon in the Catholic Church this past summer and this was the crucifix hanging in the sanctuary. It’s about ten feet tall! Canon EOS 5D / Canon 70-200 lens at 200mm / F5.6, 1/640, ISO 200 “The first shall be last, and the last shall be first.”

  • Detail of a steeple on a chapel. Shot taken at Threshermen’s Village beside the Chilliwack Heritage Park in Chilliwack, Canada, 2008, with my Kodak Easy Share camera. July 2008.

  • Taken of a local church. I have always wanted to take a picture of this church because it is has this field in front of it and I see the sky on some days against the steeple and I just think that it would make for a great picture. On this particular day the farmer had rolled up the grass into hay and I was so excited! The cloud in the background is actually from a huge fire or something (still haven’t found out what had happened) down the road a ways. It made for an interesting picture. “Take your sickle and reap, because the time to reap has come, for the harvest of the earth is ripe.” Revelations 14:15

  • Missions in Taos, New Mexico. Based on photos by Bob Franklin. A long time friend and artist.

  • Studio portrait, girl’s profile in Flying Nun’s hat.

  • Temple Square in Black and White

  • The shadow cast upon the blue plaster wall of St. Edmund’s Catholic Church in Watseka, Illinois. Photo taken under natural lighting-church lights off, with light streaming in first through a large frosted window in an adjacent hallway, then through an open doorway from the Sacristy into the Sanctuary. I was able to turn the crucifix so that this image was cast upon the wall.
