This 19th Century Gothic Cathedral is built on the Hill of Down, one of the holiest Christian sites in Ireland. According to tradition, St Patrick himself lies buried in the graveyard beside the cathedral.
This image makes me think of times past. This is looking across the Lehigh River to the south side of Bethlehem. In the past it was an area of blue collar workers, many who were immigrants of German, Irish, and Polish decent. It was an area of row homes and deep faith in both God and the human experience. It was a time of families that passed work at the steel mill on from generation to generation. The air was bad and smog was trapped by the south mountains rising up behind the city. Somehow people survived, raised families, maintained. The steel is gone now and most of the people living on the south side are involved in a mirid of service jobs from working at Lehigh University to truck driving to working in one of the many distribution centers that have grown up in the area. The air is much better now but on occassion a gentle fog rolls in from the river and brings back the memories of times past.
Chapel of the Holy Cross in Sedona, Arizona. Designed in 1956 by Marguerite Brunswig Staude, a pupil of Frank Lloyd Wright.
St. Luke’s Lutheran Church 1929. Serving the areas of Browning, Woodly and Cullen, Saskatchewan CANADA until its declaration as a heritage site in 1984. Originally a one room school house, its first congregation consisted of 36 baptized members in 1911. The history of the Lutheran Faith in the Prairies began with the first German-Russian immigrants during the years 1902-1905. Today this Lutheran Historic Church sits alone on the prairie amidst numerous Oil Drilling Rigs, which have displaced most of the farmers. Browning, Woodley and Cullen no longer exsist, the communities have vanished.
In Cyprus there are many little cafes that are for men only. Particularly in the small villages, the women are able to socialise by visiting their friends homes. But the men socialise by going to the local cafe where they sit for hours with their lifelong friends drinking Greek coffee (which is very strong) and playing a Greek game called Tavli.

Atop the pitch of the church of St John’s Wagga Wagga, NSW, Australia, sits a cross. Not an ordinary, plain and simple cross. Nor is it a roman or celtic cross. In fact, it is unlike any cross I have seen anywhere in the world, (although there’s a good chance I wasn’t looking). The church, built 150 years ago, bears some of the hallmarks of that era. This old and ornate cross is one of them. / However, it is a symbol of not only the Christian faith, but of the dedication and faithful service of the generations who have worshipped in this place and taken their faith beyond the church door, the ornate and beautiful building, into the world and their local community to make a difference. / They built their faith, but also lived it. And we, the generations who have come after those original Church builders, are the beneficiaries.

This beautiful old piano stands strong inside the Primitive Baptist Church of Cades Cove. I can’t imagine how many times these ole ivory keys have been lovingly struck by loving hands. Though the chuch itself may be silent, the piano lays in wait to give this grand house of worship a voice, once again. Cades Cove is nestled in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Note: Taken by hand on aged b&w film on a Canon Rebel EOS 2000.
Brief history of Snt Mary,s church, Humberstone, Leicester. The parish church of ST. Mary was originaly built in the 13th century, little remains but the tower and parts of the outer walls. The rain leaked through the church roof and various pieces of church furniture were scattered about the village in private houses. / Repairs had been carried out before the end of the 17th century. In 1692 the church was reported to be in good condition. The roofs were rebuilt during the restoration of 1857 but a few pieces of 15th century timber were used. / Six bells were rehung in 1948, the earliest is dated 1620 the rest date from 1628, 1673 and 1743. / In the north aisle is a table tomb with an alabaster top, bearing the figure of a man in armour. The marginal inscription is to Richard Holoft, dated 1547. The doors of the church are original. / The church belongs to the Church of England This church is where i was christenend as a baby , so it,s special to me.
