This summer I was in Marvejols, France and was lucky enough to see a snake swimming in the local river. I was struck how similar the scales were to the local roof tiles and since there was a church at the top of the street I was staying in with impressive stained glass windows, I amalgamated the lot and filled my evenings with creating this work. The underbelly of the snakes is done to resemble the stonework of the area. Its been drawn with coloured pencils on canvas paper.

Taken at Southwell Minster, Nottinghamshire, England. The minster is one of the most interesting and beautiful buildings I have ever been to. By mid morning, the light came streaming through. I love this shot. The ancient pillars become beautiful pallets of colour.

this is a side door of an old church on Bloor St. and I loved the stonework

This low light shot was the original one I took in colour but because of the orangey colour cast I decided to change it to B&W and Sepia. I wanted to use a street light to my right and out of the frame as the main source of light and a little bit of flash. Which one of the three do you prefer? So maybe it hasn’t been quite this cold lately, but still it’s been bloody cold in Melbourne! This is an edit of the Chapel at Monsalvat in Eltham, Victoria, Australia. Used a filter in Photoshop to achieve the red coloured bushes and also added the snow using another plug-in. Montsalvat consists of a series of unique and distinctive buildings in the European style set in over 12 acres of parkland. A lot of materials came from the many beautiful buildings of Melbourne that were being demolished to make way for modernization. The addition of mud bricks, rammed earth, the local mud stone , bush timbers, and a great deal of hard labour, Justus Jörgensen’s vision took form. My other photo of Monsalvat here Click here for my other images of Victoria
