  • Beautifully lit-up facade at Festa time. This church is the parish church of the peaceful Balzan village in Malta and is dedicated to the annunciation of the Virgin Mary. / I did not have my tripod with me for this shot sadly.. but I just couldn’t resist taking this. / It was shot at 1/10 of a second at f8. ISO was 200 and focal length 32mm. PS. “Festa” is the Maltese word for feast. I guess it may be derived from the Spanish word ‘fiesta’ ?..

  • Night over a French fishing village nestled into a bay situated between Cote de Basque and Grande Plage on the south west coast of France. The thing that struck me most about Biarritz and the surrounding areas of the south west coast of France was that the locals were most active at night, opening bars, resutrants and shops for a clientele heavily saturated with tourists. You can get a meal or buy a drink until late in Biarritz but forget about buying breakfast until at least 9.30 / 10.00am in the morning as nothing is open and the streets are virtually empty. Photo taken June 2008.

  • I know its been done a thousand times before (with over 25 versions on RB as I post this), and is simple to do, but why not? What may be different is the book it rests on – unlikely that another copy survives, and this one came from an old library – dated 1904, it was a short run of multiple volumes on English Church History. Also, the ring is a mans ring. I chose this book over a bible for two reasons – I wanted to keep to context of the meaning of the ring within the Christian faith, but not to use the usual bible or dictionary, and secondly, I enter a new phase in my life – this picture allows me to put to rest something which would have been better if it had never happened in the first place over 30 years ago….......... With the closure of the book, comes a new beginning…..
