I found this old piano in an abandoned church. It’s a haunting echo of music played, songs sung, and dances danced.

I have always loved ruined and bare country chapels where the outside elements seem to be brought in through the windows and shafts of light. To me, the deep greenwood and forests are nature’s chapels, which can bring you closer to the divine than any grand, gold guilded cathedreal. For me there is no seperation between the divine and the natural world around us…..and I have found peace and harmony many times amongst the sacred Celtic springs and ancient trees in forgotten corners of this country. This image was particularly inspired by the small holy wells of South West Cornwall, where even to this day poeple leave offerings and gifts to the water elements and the old Gods.

Its all in the title. This isn’t just an ordinary Church Spire. I am told its a copy of the Spire at St Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh. This is actually what I would consider the most prominant landmarks in Peebles. Peebles is a small Scottish Borders Town which lies about 20 miles south west of Edinburgh. Its possibly my most popular image to date out here in the real world. Made the Redbubble Home Page on the 29th of August 2008. Many thanks & best wishes from Robin; that’s me!! / Milestone reached, 1000 views. Thank you all kindly; Mum & Dad too. Reached on the 2nd of Oct 2008 / / / /

This church isn’t known for its stained glass windows, nor for its benches. It’s famous because of its neighbour – a 19th century precise replica of the original Via Dolorosa. No, they didn’t copy the buildings, just the distance and the actual slope. To make the glory of the Lord shine brighter, they didn’t just use the natural topography of the area. Instead, they dug a huge ravine – it took them 15 years, and it’s estimated that 70 000 men took part in the digging. But, of course, I didn’t take the picture of the Polish Via Dolorosa. The light wasn’t good enough.
Location: Bodie Ghost Town / Highway 395 / California / Technique: HDR (High Dynamic Range) Historical “Bodie Ghost Town” is an old mining town off of highway 395. Till this day folks that visit Bodie have sworn sightings in this famous landmark. Murder was not uncommon during the gold rush days and rumor has it that ghosts still linger the dirt streets of Bodie. “Praying for Rain” Photography & Artwork / by Holly Kempe © “As the farmer knelt down on the salty sand, / He needed rain to save his land. / The crops were wilting, the cattle all dead, / He looked around, not a word was said. / The ground was dry, where is the rain? / What could stop this worthless pain? / The farmer cursed in sheer despair, / He did not have a drop to spare. / A thundercloud covers the western sky, / A bolt of lightning explodes near by. / The farmer looks up and begins to pray, / Hoping that the rain will come his way. / Then drip-by-drip it starts to fall, / The crystal water like a clear glass wall. / The trees and flowers all in bloom, / Then once again, gone is the gloom. / The water fills the old parched creek, / The rivers bulge as the waters peak. / The mud squelches through the farmer’s dry old / hands, / As he thanks the Lord for saving his land.” / ~ Meg Hayes Year Seven / St Mary’s Primary School Featured in the: Redbubble Homepage – November 08 Recent Sales: 1 x Card – unknown buyer 1 x Card – unknown buyer 1 x 40” x 27” matte canvas through Fine Art America – Jessikalyn – America / Thank you so much to everyone. / Part profits donated to Starlight Childrens Foundation Australia See Praying for Rain at / The site for unique stock images

THE CHURCH OF THE VILLAGE SCHRAAD REFLECTED IN WINTERTIME / PHOTO MADE IN THE PROVENCE FRIESLAND OF THE NETHERLANDS / (modified in hdr maker) /
This shot was taken on the way home from a motorcycle trip to Dayton, OH. My buddy was getting a little ticked off at my wanting to stop to take this shot, as we tried to outrun the rain. Am I glad we stopped !!! This looked like an old church, that someone then had used as a residence for years. I LOVE the red leather chair on the porch, and the sky was just perfect for HDR. Taken with Nikon D300 and Tokina 12-24mm lens. Post processing included HDR treatment, and some dodge & burn.
Imagine if this child could swap places with those on the other side of the wall. Even for a day. Imagine what he might find, what he might lose, what he might think. Imagine what he might do with his new-found privilege. Imagine. I imagine that’s what he’s imagining. The possibilities are endless.
Looks better when viewed large. * /
