A different perspective on the world. Also a nice seasonal picture. It’s a picture of glass globes that have been hanging in the front window at home and I took the picture through them into the winter wonderland outside. It’s not a recent picture, it was taken two, maybe three winters ago. Thought I’d put it up and let it get some exposure! I’m really happy with how it turned out! I hope you enjoy this piece. Love this little lone tree. Trying to capture every season…have winter and fall so far. Somehow I missed summer and spring….next year maybe? 1st place in the Calendars R Us Challenge and Featured on the Red Bubble Home Page.

Loch of the Lowes lies in the beautiful scottish borders between Moffat and Selkirk. It flows into nearby St Mary’s loch (with its thriving sailing club) past old Tibbieshiels inn, hostelry and overnight stop for walkers on the southern upland way crossing Scotland. Overlooking the north end of the loch is a monument to James Hogg – the Scottish Poet known as the Ettrick Shepherd, friend and contemporary of Sir Walter Scott. Taken 4/3/08 (untouched) with a pocket fuji finepix A500 (There is a 2nd loch of the lowes further north in Perthshire, complete with osprey viewing centre – but you can see the wonderful fish eagle hunting here too if you are lucky!) I was having fun experimenting one night on our street as I loved how the lights reflected off the snow on our street, these log homes with big windows really allowed this scene to come out. Tried and tried over and over to give it that festive feeling around X-mas, anyhow, here`s the result. / Canon XT, sigma 17-35mm 2.8 over 15 sec

This image was shot at dawn. I waited on the lake in the dark in my kayak until the sun started to peer over the horizon and the mist I had been kayaking through became evident. The silence was golden. This is the picture I have in my head of that moment, a place I want to return to over and over again.

My wife, Linda, and I built a small snowman. We used our left over pizza for its features; crust for nose, tomato for hat, and cucumber for eyes. The chickadee came for lunch and ate one eye, then came for more. Mammoth, California

I took this on the way home after a Christmas Concert by the Big Rock Singers and just had to share it right away. We have had a dump of six to eight inches of heavy wet snow lasting all day, causing me to shovel several driveways several times today. However, the absolute beauty of freshly fallen snow mixed with blue Christmas lights makes up for any of the day’s toils. Hope you like it.

Taken on a very rare snowy morning in Bristol on my way to work. / Its the first time I have shot in the snow and the first time I have used my new tripod, so I was able to get nice slow speeds with a tight aperture. / A little work in PS to correct the colour and sharpen etc. Taken with a Nikon D70 and a CPL.

Another wintry experiment with one of Sienna’s pictures (original photo shown below). She was standing in the snow along Clarks Creek, but I converted the picture to black and white, added falling snowflakes and a red holiday bow to make her look a bit more festive! / Original taken February 2008. It was fairly easy to make the snow. I just searched on the internet for a Photoshop tutorial to make snow and found it instantly. Here’s Sienna’s original picture: /
