A Christmas message for all!! Well, maybe not all … there may be some people who take Christmas seriously. / Me, I hold a grudge – my birthday’s December 25! Maybe you’d prefer something a little less subtle: Or perhaps as a card:
A wintry ice storm came in a fury and laden the trees with inches of ice around the tree limbs. Trees were doubled over from the weight and many trees were uprooted. The sun was trying to break thru the clouds and the sunlight made the ice glisten and sparkle. It was so peaceful and beautiful. / Taken in East Stroudsburg, PA / Canon 30D, CS3 / / Welcome! Thanks For Stopping By And taking A Look. / All Comments and Fav’s Are Truely Appreciated. Thank You!!! / / / / / Featured in The Woman Photographer – Sept 09 /

It was a quiet Christmas for my husband and me, the first one we’ve spent alone in our 35 years of marriage and 58 years of life. We spent the last daylight hours of our Savior’s birthday at Lake Martin, in St. Martin Parish, Louisiana, and this is the scene we viewed. I’ve named it Silent Night in the Deep South, a quiet ending to a quiet and peace-filled day.
This is an original linoleum print from my Holiday Series. It was created for my annual Christmas card. It was a fairly obvious attempt to illustrate the universal appeal of hope and peace during the holidays.

This is a drive by shooting. On a coach to St. Johann, Austria, the coach driver was tearing around the smallest hair pin turns on tiny Alpine roads as if he was late for some dumpling festival. I had the camera out just in case we crashed and took this photo while waiting for the crunch. Luckily that never happened. I hope you like it. Greeting Cards / Framed Print / Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 35mm, f/3.5, 1/1600 sec, ISO 1600. No filters used. A death speed coach window in the way. I evened out the chrome abs because of the high iso. This shot is also available from a photobook collection called Rural Mementos by redtree.me © Copyright 2009 David Reid – redtree.me – All rights reserved.
“Angels we have heard on high / Sweetly singing o’er the plains, / And the mountains in reply / Echoing their joyous strains. / Gloria, in excelsis Deo! / Gloria, in excelsis Deo!” This is the angel from our family’s Fontanini Nativity set. The texture layers really transformed the original image. The new image now looks like an antique fresco-perhaps something from a Vatican ceiling. The textures also added the dramatic “old Hollywood” lighting to the background. With all the craziness and insanity in today’s world we can never have too many angels in our lives. I have posted the lyrics to this song before, however, I thought of the same song while creating this artwork of Mary holding Jesus as a baby. Photograph of a statue of Mary and Jesus as a baby; enchanced with several software programs. For a beautiful song, listen here Mary did you know that your baby boy will one day walk on water? / Mary did you know that your baby boy will save our sons and daughters? / Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new? / This child that you’ve delivered, will soon deliver you. Mary did you know that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man? / Mary did you know that your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand? / Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod? / And when you kiss your little baby, you have kissed the face of God.
