Santa had promised Mrs Claws that he would stop and take a cloud nap, at the first sign of fatigue, but that thought was far from his mind, when he was snapped back in his seat, then ripped forward as Rudolf increased power to overcome what he guessed must be turbulence drag. Poor Santa’s eyes literally popped out of his head with the sudden deceleration. Luckily he had modified his body, with a little off season genetic tinkering to cope with just this sort of eventuality. He had not survived for thousands of years without learning some very useful survival techniques along the way. He grinned at the image it must have presented, as his eyes recoiled and plopped back safely into their sockets. The presents were pulled slowly back into the sleigh, as the GPSS (Global Positioning Santa System) combined effectively with the microscopic magnetic linkers, built into the wrapping paper of the spilt gifts. He continued merrily on his way with no ill effects, save a slight twinge of conscience, knowing that the residents of Tjikavik would be without power on Christmas Eve. Well, the power lines weren’t there last year, he thought and he always like to do a low, high speed , fly past over the little hamlet. “Happy Christmas!” he yelled, in an attempt to make up for the power cut. Most of the windows in the tiny town shattered instantly with the sonic boom. He sped off, making a mental note to have a few words with the elf in charge of his Voice Magnifier.
HDR image of a Steinway Piano at a friends’ home. She’s quite an accomplished artist herself, she painted the images behind the piano in Tuscany Italy. I’m looking for a good title for this image, this piano hasn’t been played in years. If you can think of a title that jumps out at you, I’d appreciate you posting it for me. Thanks. Painting of pines, snow and mountains. Brrr!
/ “Winter Walk” is part of the Series “The Trees”, and is a reflection of Canadian winter in Ontario… Watercolour on Arches Paper…. “There is nothing here except the constant, looping clicks and caws of birds, lost in trees erased by white. / My sight condensed by each fresh, foggy breath, a hanging depth my head sinks through. / Nothing here but mulching steps, the soft snap of twigs long soaking, the sticky sound of car tire on wet road. / I am drenched by a sudden gang-up of water, a brief yawn of thunder far away. / There is nothing here and I am all wet.” ….John Goss. “Fog” / /
/ “Moondance”is in the Landscape collection...it is a new painting based on a winter scene I had posted earlier… Watercolour on Arches Paper… Well, its a marvelous night for a moondance / With the stars up above in your eyes / A fantabulous night to make romance / ‘neath the cover of October skies / And all the leaves on the trees are falling / To the sound of the breezes that blow / And I’m trying to please to the calling / Of your heart-strings that play soft and low / And all the nights magic seems to whisper and hush / And all the soft moonlight seems to shine in your blush Michael Buble Music / / Well, I wanna make love to you tonight / I can’t wait ‘til the morning has come / And I know that the time is just right / And straight into my arms you will run / And when you come my heart will be waiting / To make sure that you’re never alone / There and then all my dreams will come true, dear / There and then I will make you my own / And every time I touch you, you just tremble inside / And I know how much you want me that you can’t hide. ..Van Morrison

/ / Original pencil drawing on Aquarelle Arches paper 56×76cm / Drawing 15 hours/painting 12 hours = 27 hours total A digitally painted hand drawn artwork… the inspiration for this is “Meeting Places”... As a child one of the most frequent things we did together as a family was to attend church on Sundays, I went to a Catholic School and the church I remember best was St Agnes’ at Port Macquarie… the nuns would come over for morning tea sometimes, and the priests would come for dinner occasionally…they were the days of fun parish picnics and life that wasn’t so hurried..when we took time to socialise, meeting and enjoying one another’s company. Mum was/is a great cook and host…and although this picture isn’t authentic as a portrait of her and myself…it’s representative. It’s also representative of new life and hope for the future, as the mother figure is with child….. and the child herself nurtures the wildlife…perhaps she is taking them to church for a blessing… perhaps the joey has lost his mother and needs nursing til he can fend for himself. The kookaburra is all seeing and all knowing….. the wise overseer of the bush… in this case, he stands in as the owl figure.
“Beautyberry” is part of the Winter collection…”Callicarpa bodinieri var. giraldii, Beautyberry is a gorgeous shrub that can grow to 10 ft. tall…it’s has lovely flowers in late summer, but in the autumn incredible jewel like amethyst coloured berries appear, that stay on till winter finally sets in…I plant lots of dfferent shrubs with berries in my garden so there is always a show even when the all the leaves are gone.. / I added touches of frost to the leaves, which often happens in late fall Watercolour on Fabriano Not Paper See more of the Winter/Christmas Collection / HERE
EDT…it’s the edge of winter…snow, wet, dark, light, night, day…a time when S.A.D is pre-eminent…it takes time to adjust, and some wait in limbo for EDT in March, but some embrace the changes…I don’t like the dark that sets in so early, so I have daylight bulbs in all my lamps…six weeks from now it’s the solstice and we start looking forward to lighter days Thomas Hood expresses it beautifully for us Watercolour on Sennelier Not Paper CLICK HERE TO SEE THE ENTIRE WINTER COLLECTION No sun-no moon! / No morn-no noon! / No dawn-no dusk-no proper time of day- / No sky-no earthly view— / No distance looking blue .. No road-no street- / No “t’other side the way”- / No end to any Row- / No indications where the Crescents go .. No top to any steeple- / No recognitions of familiar people- / No courtesies for showing ‘em— / No knowing ‘em! No mail-no post- / No news from any foreign coast- / No park-no ring-no afternoon gentility- / No company—no nobility .. No warmth, no cheerfulness, no healthful ease, / No comfortable feel in any member— / No shade, no shine, no butterflies, no bees, / No fruits, no flowers, no leaves, no birds, / November!...Thomas Hood / Effet De Neige
