HDR image of a Steinway Piano at a friends’ home. She’s quite an accomplished artist herself, she painted the images behind the piano in Tuscany Italy. I’m looking for a good title for this image, this piano hasn’t been played in years. If you can think of a title that jumps out at you, I’d appreciate you posting it for me. Thanks. My wife, Linda, and I built a small snowman. We used our left over pizza for its features; crust for nose, tomato for hat, and cucumber for eyes. The chickadee came for lunch and ate one eye, then came for more. Mammoth, California
This is his first christmas. His name is ANZAC.
May your Christmas be what ever you wished for!!!! / From the Great Smokey Mountains As is straigt from the fuji finepix S5800 / /
I’m so glad every now and then it snows heavily in England. I rushed out looking for potential spots to photograph, I took this one in Eaton Bray, Bedfordshire, UK. Photographed from the car as that was the only place I could see to get the shot between the hedges without falling in a ditch. Plus it was cold and I’d rushed out of the house without a jumper. BGB Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 70mm, f/14, 1/200 sec, ISO 200. No filters used. I just had the sensor cleaned to this is straight form the camera. This shot is also available from a photobook collection called Rural Mementos by redtree.me © Copyright 2009 David Reid – redtree.me – All rights reserved.
/ original drawing on A3 acid free cartridge paper A drawing which has been digitally coloured, in which a little friend of the forest is overwhelmly touched by the beauty of a particular very old and majestic tree. She spontaneously expresses her love and gratitude with a symbolic hug, revealing her love for her surrounds during a moonlit walk. Just the thing for friends, children, nursery, birthdays, special occasions and something a little different perhaps for an unusual Christmas card.
/ There’s an Elephant in my Garden digitally colour version also available (click here) / A sepia drawing before I colour this work…. “there’s an elephant in my garden” Inspired by my parents talk of topiary gardens in Tassie and their topiary teapot in the backyard and my little girl with the curl Sarah, who’s all growed up now (but this reminds me of her when she was a littlun)...thanx Nenek and Poppy….luv ya / / There’s an Elephant in my Garden / a drawing on catridge from my Art Diary / digitally coloured I hope that the grownups who look at this painting will remember something special from their childhood, some hopeful feeling, which will help them through today’s difficulties. There are all the colours of the rainbow in this piece, to remind us that there is always hope, no matter how hopeless it seems sometimes. The rainbow is a sign of hope. Children See/Children Do powerful message for grownups I hope that all the children who look at this painting will drift off into a faraway place in their imagination and feel wonderful for a while, especially if things are getting them down…and if life is wonderful, may this little picture add to the wonder and spark the imagination. Big hello to Maya!! :)

Bay City Rollers (I only want to be with you)
Pencil drawing on brown paper, coloured digitally I’ve been out looking for Christmas cards and not finding much out there that I liked, I made this little card in a vintage style, for all the girls that love vintage stuff and wanna give their girlfriends Vintage Christmas Wishes just tried to make something I’d like to give my friends really and the face and hair are a lot like me (although my eye colour is brown) This design also comes without the text, please let me know if you’d prefer that option.

Media pencil drawing coloured digitally, background created fro the original sepia drawing to resemble cork a little legend who wears peacock feathers in her hair…i wonder what her story is…i bet it’s fascinating….perhaps there’s a little bit of you and a little bit of me in her….i’d like to think so. art as therapy….definitely, this piece was therapeutic…... i was lost in 3 hours of whimsy when i created this between 11pm and 2am this morning…. it so pleased me to use peacock feathers, we have had a vase of them in mum’s house from as long back as i can remember…and below you will see a little picture of my mum when she was a little girl posing for a photo with her peacock feather fan…i have always loved this picture of my mum. From what I understand she is on her way to a dance, all dressed up in kimono as a dear little geisha… a red haired one with curls to die for…mum i hope you like this….dedicated to you with love … xxx So you see, that kimonos, peacock feathers and the love of beautiful adornments have been intriguing me my whole life, my mum is so creative and sews beautifully, and used to make a dresses for herself and me, she would be sure to purchase extra fabric to make me a little dress in a different style to hers, to bond us closer as mother and daughter…what a lovely thought / / My mum Sal with her peacock feather fan dressed up in kimono

BEST VIEWED LARGE / \ / My last upload for a little while, here she is the Music Box Dancer from a drawing, digitally coloured. The words in the background are my own handwriting as I wanted the emphasis to be on sending out postive message for little girls and big girls: shine SHINE Shine, be giving, LOVE yourself, love OTHERS, dance your way through LIFE, you are beautiful, be joyous, you are LOVED, sing your SONG, your heart is free, be glad, trust, HOPE, live, LOVE, BELIEVE, shine your light the message is twofold….for little girls, very simply it’s sending a clear message of positive reinforcement, were it to be something they have in their room or receive for a birthday, i just wanted to give them a boost and a reminder to love themselves and live life to the full. To go with that line of thinking I’ve included the beautiful Music Box Dancer video on youtube by The Wiggles with a video of a little girl, a bit like this one, dancing….and The Wiggles, Dorothy the Dinosaur, and Captain Feathersword are all there too for your viewing and listening pleasure. do you remember the music box dancer in your music box…? you would open up the box, and there she was, she would pop up as you lifted the lid…in her little tutu, pirouetting round and round to the sound of the ‘music box dancer’ or some other pretty tune, she kept guard over all your hidden treasures in the jewellery box, I’ve tried to recreate the look and feel of that little icon here with her white tulle tutu skirt beneath, princess-style sleeves and golden hand-beaded bodice and pretty golden string of pearls she is both young and innocent, wide eyed…but also older and wiser, so that I hope she would appeal to girls of every age and in every stage of life the other side of the coin, I want to encourage grown up girls who have struggled and find life hard going at times, as a reminder that they are beautiful, that one can develop and nurture resilience and strength through everyday focus and meditation on positive messages and looking for the good in life…even if it’s only miniscule, it can grow… and to go with that line of thought, i have included a link to Missy Higgins song, which I love so much called Sugar Cane which is about the baby ballerina that lives inside us the year was 1972 and just for fun here’s a pic of me when i was 7 and just tiny tot at ballet (i’d been going since I was 4 years old..our first review I was in “The Fairy Around the Christmas tree and we wore a white singlet with little white scarves all sewn into it to make the skirt and of course a little halo of silver tinsel about the head lol) we looked like baby elephants, so ungraceful, but all the mums and dads and we ourselves thought we were very wonderful! which one am I? ... the littlest one on the far right at the back…that’s me….one of the other girls is my best friend (from childhood) we’ve lost touch now…i won’t give her name, but she was/played Amy the Bear in Bananas in Pyjamas for a few years.. she and her sister were magic dancers and always got the lead roles, i was forever in obscurity, in their shadow….and even here…although the smallest of the lot…there i be, right in the back…where I’m most comfortable :) and one more for the road…can you believe this is me!! lol ..and i must mention that my mum painted the pegboard behind me there, and we’d hang our toys from it to tidy up…using golf tees in the holes as pegs…so innovative and clever she is…full of ‘making do with whatever we had’ kind of ideas… /
