Arrggghhh….I’m going to miss you all so much! Leaving tomorrow for a second honeymoon in NZ….not going to be much time for the bub, so I’ll just have to say hooroo and will catch up with you all when I return. Gotta go pack – cameras, lenses, tripod, cable release, lee filters, batteries, battery chargers, power leads, extension cord, powerboard….these are all essential, of course. Clothing and toiletries are optional extras… Take care all you lovely people, I’ll log in if I can, but it’s not going to happen often, I suspect.

Pendle Witch Country, in the Lancashire Pennines, is an area lying between (but also including) the north western edge of Bronte Country and the Ribble Valley, to the north and north east of which are Bowland, and the south western Yorkshire Dales respectively. The area is dominated by the dark brooding mass of Pendle Hill (shown above) and made famous (nay infamous) for its grim and fiendish association with the “Witches of Pendle”...

Hengistbury Head Standing proudly at the eastern end of Poole Bay and sheltering Christchurch Harbour from the prevailing westerly winds, Hengistbury Head is one of the jewels in Dorset’s crown. Rich in history, the remains of both Stone Age and Iron Age settlements provide evidence that the Head has been inhabited on and off for 12,500 years. In more recent times, 18th & 19th century smugglers landed their cargoes on the beach, and there’s even the remains of a Victorian quarry and port. Modern amenities include a large car park, popular cafe, and a golf course, not to mention the brightly coloured “Noddy” train, a favourite with children and adults alike. Our feathered friends love it here too as well as several species of insects, butterflies and reptiles. I planned my last trip to New Zealand partly to coincide with the beautiful Spring displays of bluebells in the Botanic Gardens and surrounding parks of Christchurch. I was not disappointed.
