Taken from my blog: I was going through some paintings in my studio and stumbled upon this one that I had done some time ago. I had initially put it aside calling it a “WIP” and had fully intended to go back and do more work on it but never did. I’d shown it as a WIP to some arteeeest friends who had liked it very much “as is” and then just rolled it up and forgot about it. It’s huge…not exactly sure off hand how large but it’s on unstretched canvas….I’d say about 4ft X 5ft. What this piece represents is (and I remember painting it during one of those dry spiritual periods when I was trying desperately to pray but just couldn’t find the words) our prayers, which are sometimes nothing more than moans and groans….but are interpreted for us by the Holy Spirit giving us a direct and uninterrupted line to our Father. This happens often during our times of spiritual emptiness when we are reaching out to God and the words just don’t come. For those of you who are Christians, you will know this scripture from the Bible: Romans 8:26 (New International Version) “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.” Anyway, when I pulled the painting out this morning, I decided that just as Jesus said on the cross, “it is finished”.....and would like to share it with you all. Never stop talking to God, He always hears….even the moans and groans! Be Blessed. /

These woods whisper so loudly, and grow with such a brute force unto me, that no matter what, all I can do is to retreat to contemplation… History and facts: / “The Convent of Capuchos of Sintra is one of the many examples of 16th century religious piety in Portugal and became known for the extreme simplicity of its construction. Built on a very small scale with cells and dormitory lined with cork and a chapel whose vault is formed by rock itself. / The Convent followed the principle of universal fraternity and brotherhood of the Franciscan monks. The inhabitants belonged to the Province of Arrábida (South of Lisbon), of the Order of Friars Minor Regular and Observant (Grey Friars). José Ramos

I was so moved while making this piece that I began to cry as my heart and mind thought of everything that He went through and still pressed on just for you and me.

My dog River posing for a portrait in the snow. She has ALWAYS liked her picture being taken since she barely opened her eyes at two weeks of age. Her litter mates ran around when the camera aimed at them but she stood in attention every time a photo opportunity showed up! :) I’m sure she’d be glad that I donate the proceed of the sale of her photos to Nature Canada as she loves woods and her deer friends as much as I do! :) Donation to charity / 50% of the proceeds of the sale of this image will be donated to Nature Canada.

I was thinking of Julie Langford’s dear mother as I worked on this image, and I kept thinking how we all must undergo metamorphosis as we make the transition from this world where light is exterior to the next world where the interior light of our Maker can finally show through when we shed our caterpillar casing and spread our butterfly wings in the new life.

This tree root is on the northern periphery of our property. We’ve lived here for over 35 years, and it’s been here all that time, in exactly the same state you see it here. I marvel at its perfect heart shape and think it’s a little note from God to remind me of his undying love. I borrowed the title from the refrain of a hymn written by Father John Foley, S.J. / Here are the lyrics of that hymn: Dwelling Place / by John Foley, SJ I fall on my knees to the Father of Jesus / The Lord who has shown us, the glory of God. May He in His love give us strength for our living / The strength of His Spirit, the glory of God. May Christ find a dwelling place of faith in our hearts / May our lives be rooted in love, rooted in love. May grace and peace be yours in God our Father / And in His son. May Christ find a dwelling place of faith in our hearts / May our lives be rooted in love, rooted in love.

God is laying Ephesians heavy on my heart today. In this simple scripture verse, we have all that we will ever need and then some. We have been set free because of what Christ has done. Through his blood our sins have been forgiven. We have been set free because God’s grace is so rich. He poured his grace on us by giving us great wisdom and understanding. / Ephesians 1:7 & 8 This is two acrylic paintings layered with digital effects added. /

I promised to share this with the “For The Love Of Jesus” group. / This painting was done in 2006. It’s nothing more than a preliminary scumble but this is how it happened and it is very special to me just the way it is (taken from the About.com forum posted in 2006).As most of you already know, my personal faith in the Lord Jesus is very strong.Yesterday, I ran down to gesso a canvas just before I had to go and pick up my children from school. I mixed some white gesso and burnt umber, painted the background, and all of a sudden the overwhelming urge came over me to paint My Saviour, My Friend. I grabbed a dry brush and scumbled this painting. It’s a self-portrait of me and my Jesus. I can’t explain it, I just do as I am told. It was all done in about 3 – 5 minutes. I decided to leave it as is, exactly the way the Lord gave it to me because He loves us so much, imperfections and all. I know this is hard for some of you to understand and I certainly do not intend to start any kind of debate. I just wanted to share with you all. I wish all of you His blessings this day. / The rest of the thread can be found here if anyone is interested: / My Saviour My Friend

Surely He has borne our griefs / And carried our sorrows; / Yet we esteemed Him stricken, / Smitten by God, and afflicted. / But He was wounded for our transgressions, / He was bruised for our iniquities; / The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, / And by His stripes we are healed. ~Isaiah 53:4&5 Christ carried our sorrows and griefs so we don’t have too. We don’t have to carry around pain and baggage. By His stripes we are HEALED! Come to the healing water that poured out for us on the cross through His stripes. Come be transformed. Come be healed. Digital Mixed Media compiled in Photoshop CS2.

As those who know my work are all aware: I don’t usually “play with” Photoshop effects (of course except frames as I love framing). This time I can’t resist the concept so I used “vivid light” as an effect and add an extra gradient layer on top of the photo. I can only hope it worked.

Back in the deep summer, when all were in blossom and the leaves were rich in color and taste, the doe had plenty of time to experience the “other things” in life than just search for food. One day she decided to figure out what creature it was that I carried around with me and pushed at the top of the “head” from time to time to make a sound. She came so close to the lens that I had to quickly change to a wide-angle one in order to take this photo. Right after that instant, she took another step further to “pat” my “pet” with her tongue! :) Donation to charity / 50% of the proceeds of the sale of this image will be donated to Algonquin Park
