  • Taken from my blog: I was going through some paintings in my studio and stumbled upon this one that I had done some time ago. I had initially put it aside calling it a “WIP” and had fully intended to go back and do more work on it but never did. I’d shown it as a WIP to some arteeeest friends who had liked it very much “as is” and then just rolled it up and forgot about it. It’s huge…not exactly sure off hand how large but it’s on unstretched canvas….I’d say about 4ft X 5ft. What this piece represents is (and I remember painting it during one of those dry spiritual periods when I was trying desperately to pray but just couldn’t find the words) our prayers, which are sometimes nothing more than moans and groans….but are interpreted for us by the Holy Spirit giving us a direct and uninterrupted line to our Father. This happens often during our times of spiritual emptiness when we are reaching out to God and the words just don’t come. For those of you who are Christians, you will know this scripture from the Bible: Romans 8:26 (New International Version) “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.” Anyway, when I pulled the painting out this morning, I decided that just as Jesus said on the cross, “it is finished”.....and would like to share it with you all. Never stop talking to God, He always hears….even the moans and groans! Be Blessed. /

  • Acrylic on masonite.

  • These woods whisper so loudly, and grow with such a brute force unto me, that no matter what, all I can do is to retreat to contemplation… History and facts: / “The Convent of Capuchos of Sintra is one of the many examples of 16th century religious piety in Portugal and became known for the extreme simplicity of its construction. Built on a very small scale with cells and dormitory lined with cork and a chapel whose vault is formed by rock itself. / The Convent followed the principle of universal fraternity and brotherhood of the Franciscan monks. The inhabitants belonged to the Province of Arrábida (South of Lisbon), of the Order of Friars Minor Regular and Observant (Grey Friars). José Ramos

  • This tree root is on the northern periphery of our property. We’ve lived here for over 35 years, and it’s been here all that time, in exactly the same state you see it here. I marvel at its perfect heart shape and think it’s a little note from God to remind me of his undying love. I borrowed the title from the refrain of a hymn written by Father John Foley, S.J. / Here are the lyrics of that hymn: Dwelling Place / by John Foley, SJ I fall on my knees to the Father of Jesus / The Lord who has shown us, the glory of God. May He in His love give us strength for our living / The strength of His Spirit, the glory of God. May Christ find a dwelling place of faith in our hearts / May our lives be rooted in love, rooted in love. May grace and peace be yours in God our Father / And in His son. May Christ find a dwelling place of faith in our hearts / May our lives be rooted in love, rooted in love.

  • I was so moved while making this piece that I began to cry as my heart and mind thought of everything that He went through and still pressed on just for you and me.

  • The faith of a child is the greatest possession one can ever have.

  • God is laying Ephesians heavy on my heart today. In this simple scripture verse, we have all that we will ever need and then some. We have been set free because of what Christ has done. Through his blood our sins have been forgiven. We have been set free because God’s grace is so rich. He poured his grace on us by giving us great wisdom and understanding. / Ephesians 1:7 & 8 This is two acrylic paintings layered with digital effects added. /

  • Surely He has borne our griefs / And carried our sorrows; / Yet we esteemed Him stricken, / Smitten by God, and afflicted. / But He was wounded for our transgressions, / He was bruised for our iniquities; / The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, / And by His stripes we are healed. ~Isaiah 53:4&5 Christ carried our sorrows and griefs so we don’t have too. We don’t have to carry around pain and baggage. By His stripes we are HEALED! Come to the healing water that poured out for us on the cross through His stripes. Come be transformed. Come be healed. • I found the following verse while reading a book of poetry by Helen Steiner Rice. It goes so well with this image of Christ that I deleted the original image and reposted this to include the poem. We have God’s Easter promise, so let us seek a goal / That opens up new vistas for man’s eternal soul…. / For our strength and our security lie not in earthly things / But in Christ the Lord, who died for us and rose as / King of kings. Writtten by: Helen Steiner Rice /

  • A very close friend of mine has one of my favorite names – Magdalena – and so it got me to thinking of Mary Magdalen. / I’m not trying to be blasphemous with her being unclothed – but rather I thought it appropriate – to have her bathed in light, drinking from the cup, in all of her “raw-ness”...... I hope you understand where my mind was going with it… :) Peace, Claudia / xoxoxox http://horrorvacui-stock.deviantart.com/ original pic was here: / http://horrorvacui-stock.deviantart.com/art/Cup3-8136644 A poem in her honor: Song for Mary Magdalene / by Padraic Pearse (Irish Poet) / Text of Padraic Pearse’s “Song for Mary Magdalene” O woman of the gleaming hair, / (Wild hair that won men’s gaze to thee) / Weary thou turnest from the common stare, / For the shuiler Christ is calling thee. O woman of the snowy side, / Many a lover hath lain with thee, / Yet left thee sad at the morning tide, / But thy lover Christ shall comfort thee. O woman with the wild thing’s heart, / Old sin hath set a snare for thee: / In the forest ways forspent thou art / But the hunter Christ shall pity thee. O woman spendthrift of thyself, / Spendthrift of all the love in thee, / Sold unto sin for little pelf, / The captain Christ shall ransom thee. O woman that no lover’s kiss / (Tho’ many a kiss was given thee) / Could slake thy love, is it not for this / The hero Christ shall die for thee?

  • Acrylic on canvas. Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him. Hebrews 9:27,28 / /

  • Abstract acrylic on canvas. Inspired by Hebrews 4:14-16 An invitation from God. We should never feel uncomfortable or find it difficult to approach God. Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. /

  • Acrylic on stretched canvas. Please view large and if you feel so inclined, please read the entire chapter. Ephesians 1 Inspired by: Ephesians 1:13,14 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory. /

  • Acrylic on canvas. For anyone who is struggling today as I am…God, help us to persevere. This is my prayer today. Hebrews 10:35-39 So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. For in just a very little while, “He who is coming will come and will not delay. But my righteous one will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him.” But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved. Hebrews Chapter 10

  • As Christians, our hearts break for those who do not know Christ as their Savior and because of this we always keep them in our prayers night and day. Phillipians 3:18,19 For, as I have often told you before and now say again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is on earthly things.

  • Acrylic on canvas. Inspired by Ephesians 4 – Unity In The Body Of Christ Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

  • Textured abstract. Oil on masonite board. “In my Father’s House, there are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.” John 14:2
