Found this in my backyard when I was watering. Very colorful bloom, in my mind. Used my macro lens to get real close. Oh, there was this bee flying around it so I waited for what seemed an eternity in 110 degree sun, but he never landed on the flower. Of course he landed on all the other ones. Isn’t that the way it goes sometimes. Oh well, there’s always next time. Nothing fancy this time, just fixed up the coloring and shading to make it more appealing to your eyes. Pretty much right out of the camera. f22, ISO 100, 60mm macro lens using manual focus. Hope you like! Add me to your watch list now

Joshua Tree National Park is located in south-eastern California. Declared a U.S. National Park in 1994, it had previously been a U.S. National Monument since 1936. It includes over 1,234 mi² (3,196 km²) of land. A large part of the park is designated to wilderness area; some 914 mi² (2,367 km²). Straddling the San Bernardino County/Riverside County border, the park includes parts of two deserts, each an ecosystem whose characteristics are determined primarily by elevation. Below 3,000 feet (900 m), the Colorado Desert encompasses the eastern part of the park and features natural gardens of creosote bush, ocotillo, and cholla cactus. The Little San Bernardino Mountains run through the southwest edge of the park. source: wikipedia Straight out of the camera!

Not exactly the type of friendly teddy bear you’d ever find yourself cuddling up to, eh? This was taken at the Desert Museum near Tucson, Arizona. Beautiful but in a majestic, scary sort of way.

I took a trip to Big Bend, Texas, and along the way, my friend and I stopped a number of times to explore areas in California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. I took this guy’s picture in Arizona, somewhere east of Phoenix. He was very adept at crawling through the spines of this cholla!

A rare sight, snow in the Sonoran Desert in Arizona. This Cholla was shot in the Tonto National Forest near my home.

Sun rays streaming through a Teddy Bear Cholla, also known as the Jumping Cactus. Don’t get too close to these, I actually had one jump into my knuckles as I walked passed it.
