  Taboche Peak 6367m rises majestically from the floor of the valley of the Lobuche Khola River in the Nepalese Himalayas. To the right is Cholatse with her 6335m peak just in the clouds. At the foot of the valley above the village of Pheriche rises the twin peaks of Kangtega 6685m with Thamserku 6608m to her right. The fresh snow fell deep in the valley the night before. These mountains are some of the world’s most famous and the Sagarmatha National Park is their home.

  After the sun sets, Venus continues to shine and help light up the cloud flowing into the Imja valley. The strong stark silhouettes of Tawoche, Cholatse and Arakamptse rise into the dusk sky, seen from Island Peak Base Camp (5150m).
