My Jewellery... Shop

Karin’s Jewellery Shop / Beach Shed Chick Giclee Resin Disc / / Displayed in packaging / A Selection of chokers from the collection Some of you may already know, I’ve been selling my necklaces at etsy I sell my collectible hand cast 4cm round resin disc necklaces, with mini prints of original artworks over there Lovely little jewellery pieces, hand strung on cotton cord with a natural bead. Artfully packaged in transparent display dome with designer label. The make great gifts. Necklaces are made from tiny giclee (geeclay) prints of my original paintings. They are embedded in a pebble like resin discs which have been handcast and set by myself in the studio. In the original paintings I’ve used a number of different media, including inks, pastels, acrylics, charcoal and other bits and pieces on paper impressed with a canvas texture, this gives each piece an unusual grainy appearance adding to the ambience. The inspiration for each piece takes time and it is a long process from the original painting to the art to wear pieces you see here on Etsy. Each one is imbued with love and affection. I hope you like my jewellery, thank you so much for looking :) Below are the paintings which are currently available as giclee necklaces, it is unlikely that i’ll be creating any more jewellery in the future, as they are extremely time consuming, and I’m getting back into my painting more and more these days, but i do hope you enjoy looking at my collection of what is currently available…To see Karin’s Jewellery at her Etsy Store – Click here See them all at my Etsy Shop

I love blue hair! ......................................... I opted for the comment above as things were very glitchy when I was uploading this and my long, well written, explanation went kerpoof one too many times! The short version is that there was an Event and there was a lady who I saw, and this was painted digitally years and years after I saw her dressed, more or less, this way. No idea of her name, age, location, etc. anymore. It’s the hair that stuck with me most; that and she vaguely resembled a Goth Elf!

Laying in bed this morning contemplating arising from my warm cocoon a random jumble of thoughts meandered through my mind. One of which was that if I were to leave these shores next April there would be only three items of furniture I would not sell or give away: my dressing table and chair, my piano (okay, so not technically furniture, but you know what I mean) and my red-ribbed velour lounge suite. Everything else I now feel I would be able to part with permanently, unlike last time when it all went into storage. Though I might have to part with my lounge suite if everything else could be stored at my parents’ house – they would definitely take the piano and quite possibly the dressing table, but the lounge suite would not fit into their home. Of course I don’t actually expect to win the travel award, but it’s good to know that I could leave it all behind if I had to. In other news, you should check out the Inner Northerns’ exhibition at Brunswick Bound which opened today. Some beautiful images to be seen. Buy my book

An antique hand crafted heavy Kuchi (tribal) choker. Their value is that craftsmanship, as there is very little precious metals (gold, silver) or gems as colored glass, and beads are used in the making of these beautiful works of art. The antique ones are getting harder to find, and new ones of equal quality aren’t found, as sons of the artisans tend to opt for a more ‘modern’ job. There are replicas, but they are typically very thin, light and easily bent.

A necklace I made at the request of a friend. I used turquoise (I assume it’s reconstituted, but I didn’t have enough beads to try breaking one open to check). The feature is a vintage button. Small, round obsidian beads (about 4mm) and Swarovski crystal bicones in jet are added to the piece. The silver spacers are inset with Swarovskis, as well. This is strung on nylon-coated wire (2 strands as it’s a double-strand choker) and finished at each end with a sterling-silver crimp. The chain is silver-plated, and I will use a sterling lobster clasp once I get the final measurements for the piece. I added it here on RB so his wife wouln’t readily see it before he decides if it’s what he wants or not. ;-) Photo taken with Kodak EasyShare Z885
