intelligence is something subjective. the majority of our society views people with high academic levels as ‘intelligent’. other cultures may view people with problem solving skills or the ability to work in a group as ‘intelligent’. i’m sure many of us here on RB would view intelligence as also having a creative facet. for me personally, intelligence is not a certain level that everyone needs to reach (like a ‘straight A student’) to become intelligent, but is rather different depending on the individual. to reach out and express yourself through a medium in a way unique to yourself. like artistic talent, sporting talent, musical talent, mathematical talent. and even in things that are less clear, like management of large groups of people, the ability to understand concepts and convey them in a clear manner to others. i think my father is an intelligent man. not an academic man per se, but an intelligent man. the way that he can make it so easy to understand a complicated concept through his explanation is a special talent in my eyes. there is much debate on what intelligence is and how to measure it.. being at university this year i have met and seen a lot of different types of people (and i try to appreciate every single person as their own), but is being a walking talking dictionary, that doesn’t fulfill its purpose (enlighten the reader with definitions), and arrogantly ‘intelligent’ really intelligent. i understand that some people are really good at expressing themselves verbally (as you may have noticed i am lacking in the written side of things and am much worse as the verbal side, avoiding words that i find hard to pronunciate), but i always thought that expressing yourself verbally also including conveying your expression to your audience in a way that they can understand and relate. i am not against the use of big words that i find entirely foreign but i cannot stand people who feel that they are so much above my level of intelligence that they tell me to “look it up” when i ask for a meaning. i like learning new things, and i like getting insight into other people’s thoughts and minds, but really what does it prove to use words that almost no-one has in their vocabulary, and then not enlighten people… does its prove ‘intelligence’ or arrogance. even after i queried about the use of an adjective as a noun, i was told i’d find that a dictionary does not offer adequate insight and depth into the meaning of the word. i think its funny to call yourself a erudite rather than describe yourself as one. such big words i hope you choke.

This is yet another image of a flower at a rest stop, on my last roadtrip! It was one of many favorites that I captured that stop! I sometimes get caught up in what I see, and not alway looking for the perfect image! Sometimes I like those that are different, and their beauty might have changed into the grace that they die! I hope you will like this as much as I do! Don’t worry theres more, and will not be long before I add them as well! It was my hope to contribute to the Flower Power Project as well!
