  • I make mine with strawberries :D mmmm! ;P

  • ...and she bakes! :P White Chocolate Star Cookies ½ c butter/marg / ½ c caster sugar / dash of vanilla extract / ¾ c white choc melted / 1 egg, beaten / 2 cups plain flour# / ½ teaspoon baking powder so you cream the butter and sugar, add the vanilla and then mix in the melted choclate well before adding the egg. / then sift flour and baking powder. / wrap dough in plastic and refrigerate for 30 mins. / roll out to about 5mm thickness. #i found i needed more flour to work with as the stars i cut weren’t keeping their shape. plus it was humid, so you might need to add some more, no need to knead it (!), just get it happening and workable. bake in preheated 180° oven for 15 mins, or until golden. decorating: / i just dipped half in some melted white (and milk) chocolate, and then sprinkled, 100s & 1000s, coconut, drinking chocolate. you could also try chopped nuts, crushed toffee, all sorts of things. be sure to fire up your baking paper piping bags!

  • I was hard at work the other day when some friends dropped over with a box of chocolates. They chatted with my wife while I diligently focused on my “day job”, secretly wishing I could take even a few minutes out to scoff some delectable choccies – but knowing it would be rude to simply appear, eat and run. As our friends were leaving and saying their goodbyes one of them passed me the box of chocolates and at first I thought it was a joke, giving me an empty box as a reminder of what I had missed. But sitting in that plain cardboard box all on it’s lonesome was this cute little white chocolate dollop sprinkled with red hearts. At first I couldn’t bring myself to eat such a cute creation – so I sat the little delight on a fitness ball I had nearby and fired off a couple of shots. Once I was sure I had captured the little wonder for posterity I greedily sunk my teeth into that white chocolate casing, feeling the crack of it beneath my lips and the satisfyingly gooey center that cascaded into my mouth.

Ah the fabled cherry—the poetic color of luscious lips, and just as sweet. It started out in West Asia (perhaps the Persia-Armenia region) and in two varietals from which all cultivated cherries are descended: Prunus avium (sweet) and Prunus cerasus (sour). Sweet cherries had spread to Ancient Greece and the Mediterranean by 300 BCE, for Theophrastus mentions them. And Pliny the Elder (1st century AD) mentions that some 8 varieties of cherries were being cultivated in Italy—and that the Romans were spreading them as far north as Britain. The British, in turn, carried it to the New World in the 17th century (Beyond the huge crops in Michigan, California, Oregon, and Washington, American wild cherries include the chokecherry, the pin cherry, and the wild black cherry. Sour cherries have spread even farther north, and are a speciality of Germany and Scandanavia. Today it is estimated that some 900 sweet varieties (ranging in color from yellow to black) and some 300 sour varieties are being grown. Most sweet cherries will produce fruit only after they’ve been cross-pollinated—honey bees usually do the leg work, carrying pollen from a sweet cherry of another variety soupsong.com See some samples of the collection below, and view the entire collection to date, at the Bubblesite HERE / Plum Blossom with Apples and Cream / / Sour Cream Bumbleberry Tart with an Apricot Glaze / / Ginger Shortcake with Nectarines and Creme Fraiche / / Spicy Chewy Ginger Cookies / / Chocolate Cupcake with a Mocha Swirl / / Cinnamon Bun / / Scone with Berries and Cream / / Lemon curd and Blueberry Tart
