At the end of the day he leads them back to the main land. / I watched in the morning as the young elepnats waited for the large bull to come down to the banks of the river, before they would start to cross. Then I was lucky enough to be there when they returned. / I stayed in a small cottage in this area. In the wee hours of the morning I heard hollering and pans being beated together, it was the owner of the cottage out in the road scaring away elephants from his yard. Just amazing! I have to return some day.

  • Chobe River, Botswana After spending the evening cruising down the Chobe River we found a herd of elephants gradually moving toward us, coming closer and closer to the river bank. There were in excess of 20 of them in the herd, and this lot were the first to make it to the waters edge for a drink together. Given it was a 43 degree day, I think they needed it! • This baby elephant was with a herd in the Chobe River in the Chobe National Park. It was refusing to cross the first section of water to an island to join the others in the herd. Mum and others tried everything to coax him across, but without success. He finally got a couple of feet wet and had a drink. Then seemed to enjoy blowing bubbles in the water and ignoring mother.

  • This Bull wasn’t too impressed with the amount of viewers watching him drinking from the Chobe River, wasnt much he could do about it though! Taken with a Canon 50D, 50-500 Sigma at 500.

  • This little baboon was all by his lonesome on the branch of a dead tree, on the banks of The Chobe River, Botswana. We were wondering why he was all alone, while a whole congress of baboons were having the time of their lives further down the bank. Our guide told us he was banished from the congress, either temporarily, or permanently. I felt a bit bad for this guy, but then again, don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time! Original shot destaurated and layered with texture from www.deviantart.com – struckdumb. Colour desaturated in one layer of texture and increased in second.
