So that we could visit each other, I’ve tried to climb high; / my heart follows along, like a wild goose, to exhaustion. I worry because of the thin dusk that comes up, / but the clear autumn prevails and you can feel it. It’s the hour to see village people returning; / they walk on the sand, rest at the ferry landing. At the edge of the sky, the trees look like grass; / Near the river bank is an islet shaped like the moon. On a visit to the Jardin Botanique in Montreal I was captivated by the Chinese Garden. Various ponds and streams had huge floating islands of lily pads. But it was not until I rested that I discovered these two lily pads and the reflections, just over the side of the bench I was sitting on. Taken in macro mode. “Life is not merely a series of meaningless accidents or coincidences, but rather it is a tapestry of acts that culminate in an exquisite, sublime plan.” -from the movie Serendipity Featured in the Abstracts From Nature group July 2008.

Sales of this Design? – 1 sale so far :) / / ’’Asian Series’ card by Karin Taylor This is one of my favourite pieces in the oriental series. / Two little friends falling asleep in their little boats whilst fishing for their supper. / I really enjoyed mixing the colours for this painting, I used colour swatches from paint charts to decide on the colour scheme, and just went to work intuitively mixing til I got the right colours…they are grungier than my other pics and I love the effect…hope you like them too :D

/ ‘Asian Series’ card by Karin Taylor Catch of the Day is a sweet little painting done in mixed media…using ink, acrylic, charcoal and pastels. I had so much fun creating this little character, and dressing her in a fur coat and beanie. She is being drawn along by her dolphin friend and a butterfly has thought to come visit too. Catch of the Day was inspired by a children’s book I used to read to my children when they were little, my brother gave it them. It’s a great story called ‘The Hottest Boy Who Ever Lived’ the illustrations by Kim Gamble I think are awesome. The little girl is very much like me, she loves to fish with a bamboo fishing pole, wriggly worm attached! I also love to fish out in the open ocean with my pa.. hence it also has a smidge of sentimental value.
