Snapped this guy walking past a colourful rolelrdoor in Chinatown – used PS and some plugins to warp and bubble the colours behind him.
I was walking through Chinatown and snatching images of people in the market and food stalls. I stumbled into a very narrow laneway which had a small yet beautifully decorated temple at the end. As I walked around, this dragon caught my attention. I have taken hundreds of dragon images but this is still my very favourite.

This image was taken in Chinatown, Bangkok and I have ‘digitally’ applied effects to give it a look like a ‘Lomo’ camera. These cameras produce high contrast images with vignetting and colour shifts but there is a huge culture associated with them.

Chinatown in Singapore never held a strong attraction for me. The place is packed with tourist shops selling cheap clothes, cushion covers and Chinese souvenirs. And LOL… with French and Italian restaurants! I feel it has lost much of the essence of the original Chinatown. The first time went to Chinatown, I thought to myself… what’s there to shoot? With that frame of mind, my first shot was a bleah! :-( But soon I got into the heat of things and got some ‘not bad’ images. Then my attention then turned upwards – to the Chinese lanterns above. I was struck, especially, by the lanterns set against street lamps, by their complementary and contradictory natures – traditional and modern; warm light and cool light. This was the best of the lot. I had initially composed the image with two Chinese lanterns and the two street lamps. But when I tried a 3+2 composition, I found that it worked much better. It has become a favorite among my night photographs – and is now my submission to JPG Magazine for the Nighttime theme. Chinatown, Singapore February 2008
For one red moment she thinks she might kick the door in.
Brigit (breo-aigit / breo-shaigit ) – “fiery arrow” Many myths revolve around the goddess Brigit. Some say there are three incarnations; one in charge of writing and inspiration, who invented the Ogham alphabet; one in charge of healing; and the third in charge of fiery transformation. Only call on the third when you truly need her. She’s a handful. The further adventures of bell’s brigit.

Buddha Tooth Relic Temple is a brand new temple in the heart of Singapore’s Chinatown which really stands out with its impressive architecture. It is called Buddha Tooth Relic Temple because a tooth (discovered by a monk in Burma in 1980), believed to be one of Buddha’s molars, is kept in this building in a 3.6-metre-high golden stupa. The tooth is available for public viewing twice a year, on Buddha’s birthday and the first day of Chinese New Year. From the Manhattan Bridge, New York City, you can look down onto the rooftops of some of the poorest areas in Chinatown framed by Wall St. The juxtaposition is profound and very sad. Original photo © jc warburton 09, Fuji Finepix S8100. Rich Man Poor Man

“I don’t wish for him to be held to further punishment or consequences.” “I’m sure if he could go back, he wouldn’t do it again. He made a terrible mistake but he’s paid for it” “I forgive him. It was a long time ago. It’s been a long hard road for both of us, so I have no hard feelings.” “I don’t think he’s a danger to society. I don’t think he needs to be locked up forever and no one has ever come out ever besides me and accused him of anything.” -Samantha Geimer
