A personality quiz is a series of questions usually multiple-choice that intends to reveal something about the person who answers them. The personality quiz, unlike a knowledge quiz, has no definite set of right or wrong answers. Instead, the answers that the respondent provides are compiled and analyzed to produce a response that supposedly indicates part of the respondent’s personality and characteristics. The large number of personality quizzes seen online are a recent internet phenomenon. ( wikipedia.org)

In China, I observed artists signing their work with red ‘chops’, or calligraphic designs, carved into the base of jade rectangular solids, and so resolved to attempt designing one for myself. / Most were enclosed in a box shape, and all consisted of lines that fluctuated in width (withing limits) as though drawn with a calligraphic brush, so both of these characteristics were incorporated. My initials are KCR, so I needed to suggest these without making them overtly obvious. The two remaining spaces seemed to be asking for lines, so I gave them boomerangs to represent my Australian heritage. Finally, the bland red lines were given a 3-D effect with Photoshop’s stylizer controls. / The shape has been saved as a customized path that may be called up whenever needed, such as when I wished to ‘chop’ or stamp completed art-work. Being vector based, the chop should retain its crispness independent of size. DISCLAIMER: I want to emphasize that these chop designs are inspired by Chinese characters and concepts, but in no way are limited by them. I have used “artistic license”.
Chinese Chops, each designed to suit a particular personality, provide the means for artists to brand their creations with something a little more exotic than a normal signature. Inspired by chop-creation practices in China, the author has extended the scheme to include willing others. / Here is a mosaic pattern created from a collection of such personalized chops, displaying the particular passion depicted symbolically. / Produced as a large image, it should be well suited to a framed wall hanging, or one of the other RedBubble wall-hanging formats available. / For an understanding of the original creation process for each chop, visit this journal article. / Keith Richardson.
Keith Richardson has been creating Personalized Chinese-Style Chops for fellow RedBubblers, to brand their own published art-work. These have been selling well, so a Calendar has been created to celebrate this success. Visit the Chops Calendar Journal Article for links to each of the 13 calendar pages. This calendar has been created as a tribute to my wonderful RedBubble supporters, without whose enthusiasm the whole Chops Creation program may never have been. Sorry if your chop missed the cut – we have so many now and a calendar has room for 13 – but I tried to include a representative sample.
