Because of copyrights it is not possible to show an image with the use / deformation of the olympic rings in order to expose ideas about the Chinese politics. This limit however has helped to come up with this idea. The shirt could be usefull as a sport outfit in prisons as well… Other publicity / campaigns / contributions about the Beijing Olympics you can find here collected by a Dutchman in the advertisement world and here collected by Redbubble member Robinson. In my zazzle shop you can find the same design showed on different models, colours and the backside printed with logo and instruction. It took me awhile to find this, I’d handwritten it in a journal. The name Kuan Yin is spelled in different ways, but when spoken sounds similar in all of them. In Japan she is known as Kannon. In the ancient Sanskrit manifestation she started as a male, and transformed herself into a female. I like the concept that she manifests as both because it reminds me of the yin and yang. Kuan Yin is known for shape shifting abilities, recreating herself in forms that resonate with those who meant to encounter her. As with all bodhisattvas she may also wear the form of an animal. Look into their eyes and you’ll know. Kannon listens to and heeds the cries of the world, she is compassion and love. Here is what I wrote about her after finishing this painting: “Through mists of time and space, manifesting form to form, life after life, Kuan Yin shifts and alters herself. Fractionalizing, she appears simultaneously in far flung places, a magician slipping through disguises. Always present but not so easily recognized. Know her by her compassion. Beneath the human or animal mask is a face without flaw, smooth and unwrinkled as ivory. It is young, yet ancient. Her eyes are reminiscent of the oryx and gazelle’s soft liquid gaze, for she is luminous with trust and mercy. Kuan Yin is the cool, moist zephyr caressing scorched hearts and dehydrated lives, the shade of willow’s soft green leaves. Her love is an oasis for the bewildered and abandoned a wayside rest for weary travelers. She has many names, many faces depending upon time and place. Pause and partake of her mercy and affection. This is the first in a series I foresee doing, to increase awareness to the plight of endangered and threatened animals from around the globe. This First Edition focuses on three of the largest and most endangered carnivores today, the Sumatran tiger, the Amur leopard, and the Snow leopard. These are by no means the only imperiled wild cats, as the majority of wild cat species smaller in average body size than 30 kg are at a critical stage. / / / Because without these animals I would never be able to bring their beauty to you, I am going to pledge to donate 100% of all of my sales proceeds from cards and prints of the imagery in this series here on Redbubble to Wildlife Conservation Society Thank you for your support in the race to stave off the extinction of these magnificent creatures.

This is my tribute to Muntazer al-Zaidi. The legendary journalist who threw his shoe at George W Bush during his farewell visit to Iraq. Clearly it is based on Banksy’s “Flower Chucker” stencil which is based on a photo from the 1968 riots in Paris. I’ve tried to keep it faithful to both Banksy and Muntazer by illustrating his head as close as possible to the original press conference image, in the style of “Flower Thrower”. I also illustrated the shoe to fit his hand just nicely and added a bit of definition to the fingers. Love to know what you think. Good riddance George Dubbaya. Muntazer al-Zaid may be the thrower, but you certainly are the tosser. / / / / / / /

My work was featured in the group Video Montage / ( Thanks Muscular Teeth and Butchart ) Excerpt from “Abigail’s Friends” written by Anthony Hedger illustrated by Carrie Glenn. ...“I think we better go back now.” She whispered to the butterfly. / “Why?” The butterfly asked. “It’s only my friends and they are having a special tea party just for you, come on and I’ll introduce you to them.” / “Er, ok, if you think I’ll be alright?” / “Of course you’ll be alright.” The red fox called to her. “Come on your tea is getting cold.” / So for the next two hours Abigail sat with Mr. Fox, Mr. Bear, Miss Rabbit, Ms. Blue bird and a hundred different butterflies and had tea and cake and chatted as though she had known them all her life. Taken on a section of the Great Wall of China between Jinshanling and Simatai. In the distance you can see the wall rising steeply up over the mountains at Simatai. This got accepted into the ADPA competition in 2007.
