• ~ ode to the chimney ~

  Usually first erected / and used every day of it’s life / built to last an eternity / by many a man and his wife

  Right across the country paddocks, of here and no doubt anywhere in the world, there are chimneys standing – a memorial to the old homesteads that once stood there! The wonderful Peter Kurdulija posted a view of this one and these words came to me in memory of all those chimneys and the families who lived by them. / Chookas! ♥

  i don’t know why i wrote this poem. i read a novel that had a chapter about chimney sweeps, one was only 4 years old. my youngest brother is 4 and it broke my heart… i usually write personal poetry about my own experience in life, this has told a different story.
