Several times a week I have the pleasure of sitting next to one of my preschool students as she paints at the easel. The delight begins as I watch her face light up while donning the paint smock and how she quickly scans the colors available to her in the squat paint pots half full of juicy colored tempera. Never tentative, she dips the fat brush into the paint, and often starts with a large circle, allowing her to stretch out her arms to cover the paper. She proceeds to add thick globs of paint, swirling them all over the space, obliterating that initial circle. The child has learned to wipe and tap her brush along the inner edge of the paint pot to prevent major drips along the route from container to paper. Once her brush touches the paper, she flicks and turns her wrist in such a determined manner, adding splotches of color here and there. Eventually, all those delicious dollops of color merge into rather solid blocks of color, obscuring the underlying designs. For her, this is pure process: laying on color, mixing to form new hues, and covering the surface. She stands back a bit, checks it over, and announces it is done. When I ask who will receive her lovely work, the answer is always the same and touches my heart as I remember my own children’s paintings from 15 to 20 years ago. “It’s for mommy!”

Thank you so much to all my fellow bubblers’ well wishes with regards to my joint exhibition show :D I’m most happy to update you with the news that The Dreamer was sold yesterday to a Belgian(they are called Belgians right?) customer! I was down at the show yesterday….just to see how things were and of cos I dont deny the fact that I hope to meet someone who will love my work enough to buy….so I went around looking at others’ works…then I came to my own…and I saw 3 men looking at my owls :D So I mustered enough courage to introduce myself as the one behind the owls…so to cut the whole story short, one of the men said his mum is a super fervent owl lover and he’s looking for a birthday present for his mum! I couldnt believe my ears and my heart was just leaping with joy! So now The Dreamer is going to reside in some part of Belgium and in the loving hands of a fellow owl lover! :D I brought my cam along and wanted to take a shot with this customer…and guess what..no SD card inside, I left it in the laptop, so no pics to show here today. He did get his friend to take a pic of us so I really hope he remembers to email me :D The painting looks exactly like the framed print above…black frame with black board within :D Happy happy! Another 7 days before the show closes :D “The Dreamer” is also available in many other products in my Zazzle Gallery :D

Telepathy? Does it exist? Have you ever experienced it? Maybe you did, but have forgotten, or when you remembered you added well-intentioned something because you are not sure? Today I have decided to write something down, something that happened two days ago… I have a 3 years old daughter… and she spends most of the time with me… But latterly she goes to the kindergarten… I brought her there in the morning and happy about my free time I returned home to work on my photos, what I didn’t do for months… Since there is so cold and autumnally I have chosen this older picture to make me a little “warm”... But I was very unhappy about the brown grass leaves behind (at my original photo)... They have totally destroyed the harmony of this picture. So what I have done? I used some filters and made the brown to blue… used some layers and layer effects in Photoshop and have created a harmonic green picture, which you see above… Some hours just melted away… I didn’t even feel it… But the result was very nice. So I went very happy to pick up my daughter from the kindergarten… and from the door she shouted to me very impatiently, that she has watercolor-painted (she learned a new word today) a picture for me… She showed me this: I asked her “What is this on the picture”... She answered: “I was painting all the morning and my governess wanted me to make sport with all the children (which she usually LOVES!), but I didn’t have time today mummy, because I had to paint this picture for you… all the morning…” “Thank you darling, but what is it on this picture?” I asked again… And although children usually know very well what they paint, she answered me: “It’s for you mummy, but I don’t know what it is…” I just smiled and said… “But I know”.......................... :) Here for the German readers again…

This Advent several of our local churches got together to make art to help our neighbor. My church hosted a painting party and children and youth were invited to create art based on biblical texts. Each child was given a canvas and told to reflect on one of the passages. Every painting was different and wonderful. The silent auction was held on Thanksgiving Eve prior to a community service. This, too was an event and a positive experience for the children and youth who participated. We raised $600. to benefit a local emergency services agency.

Precious friends, I give God thanks for you all, and your prayers and support. You are so precious to me and the lord. While I was praying early this morning for each of you, as I doe each day, The holy Spirit allowed me to feel a members pain and the lord laid it on my heart to share with you the words that you are about to read. This is for someone here, and I do not know, but the Lord Jesus knows. I pray it will bless all, but especially the one whom God sends it to. [Gods personal message to someone he knows]. Zephaniah 3:17-20 [Common English Bible].The LORD your God wins victory after victory and is always with you. He celebrates and sings because of you, and he will refresh your life with his love.” (18) The LORD has promised: Your sorrow has ended, and you can celebrate. (19) I will punish those who mistreat you. I will bring together the lame and the outcasts, then they will be praised, instead of despised, in every country on earth. (20) I will lead you home, and with your own eyes you will see me bless you Then you will be famous everywhere on this earth. I, the LORD, have spoken! 1. As a minister of God, I have often counselled Gods children who have come to me with all sorts of problems and Challenges. One of the challenges that was most common is that they feel guilt and condemnation. / Their thoughts were filled with guilt over what they had done in their past, someone they hurt, something they said or done. One precious child of God would wake up at nights with fear that God was angry with her. Another would feel he was being judged by God because he was always depressed about his past. satan would like all of us to think and feel that way. But you need to understand something. God is Love and he loves you. God has spoken to you today in Zephaniah Ch3. Does that sound like God is angry with you his child. NO!. / One of the strategies satan uses is to get you to feel shame, guild and worthless because of your past. I knew a dear friend who would not pray as they felt God was angry because of the things they did in the past. They would cower and feel so unclean. He said that he knew God had forgiven him, but he still felt shamed and unworthy. Beloved, here Gods minister now as I speak to you under his anointing and in the power of his Holy Spirit. If that is you, and I know someone feels like this or similar, God has something to say to you personally right now. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. When you asked Jesus into your heart / He washed away every sin, every wrong, and you became a brand new person. You became a brand new person. Notice that in 2 Corinthians 5:17, it clearly says that the old things have passed away. God does not see your sins or wrongs, as they have been washed away in the Blood of Jesus. God does not remember them anymore. Jeremiah 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. Here God is talking about his children. Now before this was fulfilled, the price for Sin had to be paid in full, before God could forget their sins and wrongs. Jesus Gods son paid tat price in Full. God sees you through the finished work of his son Jesus. He sees the Blood of Jesus applied to your heart. He has forgiven you and does not remember your sinful past. When you received Jesus as saviour, you became a new person. Now you have a new father, and you have the DNA of God. You are brand new. Often satan will try and bring to your thoughts things that you did and then get you to think or focus on them. When he does this just tell him, “I have no sinful past, as the Lord Jesus you thought you could destroy, rose from the dead and his blood paid the price for my forgiveness, and that sacrifice was excepted by God, and the blood has washed away all my sinful past from Gods memory and mine”. Tell satan, you are born again and Jesus lives in you! / There is no need to feel unworthy, shame or guilt. / / 1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. / The Blood of Jesus never stops working and is all powerful. Precious friend, See yourself as God sees you. He sees you righteous in the righteousness of Jesus. He sees you as his son/daughter. You have the same father as Jesus. Hallelujah! / There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus. [Romans 8:1] / / Colossians 1:12-14 [Amplified Bible] Giving thanks unto the Father, of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has made us meet [Qualified] us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: (13) Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath [translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son]: (14) In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins. Now you know for sure that God in Christ Jesus has made you worthy to be his child, and that you are forgiven. There is no condemnation to you. You’re a new creation. Hallelujah! No more need to ever feel guilt or shame. You now can come boldly to your Father, knowing he has forgotten your sinful past and welcomes you to his presence as his dear child. I will close with Zephaniah 3-17-20 our opening scripture. The LORD your God wins victory after victory and is always with you. (20) I will lead you home, and with your own eyes you will see me bless you / Amen.

Hey all, I’m looking to illustrate a kid’s book.. a Monster ABC. I’ve been thinking about this for a while, and originally I was planning on doing the art in my usual vector style eg. Clive the Bunyip However, while as an adult I do love the clean lines and bright colours vector art gives me, I know kids books in general tend more towards the texture and visual richness of traditional art styles, paint and pencil and the like. My latest illustration, as well as being an entry into the Drawing Day challenge, was a chance for me to experiment with a more painterly style. A friend suggested that the painted work is more warm and friendly, and would be a better style for kids. The downside is it’s very new to me, so I’ll have to learn techniques and try to improve as I go. That illustration was done very quickly while our baby was sleeping, so it’s a bit messier than I’d be looking at anyway. So here is my question. Which style is better? The vector art is good because it’s bright, and I’m comfortable with the style – the work will be more polished and cleaner. The painted style has greater depth and warmth to it, although it’s not as finished and I would need to learn a lot as I go. Or I could do something in between.. clean vector lines like ink with painted colours for the texture. What do you think?

Hi all. ...just a quick announcement. i have started a Redbubble page for the artwork which my children have created. Please take a look. Comments welcome. Biotanauts For the most part, their artwork is abstract painting (they’re 2 years old). But, we’ll see what they create and i’ll upload that which i feel is worth consideration. Let me know what you think. I hope for great things. FYI, all proceeds go to their college funds.

Okay, so I’ve been slaving away at a beachscape. A row of cottages, a sea wall, rocks, dark, calm New England water of a receeding tide… Moody sky that bursts at the horizon line, suggesting a sun just popped up. A couple holding hands headed toward a morning dip. Finally got that couple in! But I still had more to go, something wasn’t right. My neighbor pops in with her seven year old granddaughter and I am happy to get some feedback. My neighbor ooooh’ed and ahhhhh’ed over the sky and the light strategically reflected, etc, etc. Her granddaughter was quiet. I asked what she thought. “Where are the seagulls and shells?” Duhhhhh. That was it. My beach was dead. My perfectly colored, flat, hard New England sand was missing the rocks and shells that wash up on the shore at high tide and the birds that lurk just on the edge of the water looking for breakfast. Why didn’t I think of that? Because it wasn’t in any of my reference materials and I was disconnected. I’ve heard that young children have a special connection. Some say the “soft spot” a.k.a. the posterior fontanel, that hardens in early development, is an open line to the heavens, the angels, goodness, perfection… whatever you figure is up there. For me it is a creative place that defies perameters and boundaries and facts and systems and all is as it should be cause God is in control. I guess some still go there. They are the lucky ones. Moral of the story: skip the professors, the experts, the critique committees, the whatevers and grab the kid down the street.
