Karin’s storefront iAN’s storefront This has been an amazing experience to be a part of….an enormous thank you to Matt Mawson who has tirelessly and generously worked over the past 2 days to bring this little book into being….. I could never have done it without you Matt! And of course a huge thank you to the amazing writer and friend of mine, one of those great Aussie characters that just keeps on keeping on, keeps on getting better with age…. that is iAN Derrick I first met iAN through a journal Matt wrote about one of iAN’s books, and since that day, we sorta hit it off….. I talked to iAN about my father and he also was inspired to write another short story called Understanding Harry and correct me if i’m wrong, but i think he may have been inspired to write a story that reflected some of the goings on with Matt’s four legged friend also. One day I got an email from the amazing iAN, saying although he thought my father should be the one to tell and publish his own stories, he’d had a little idea and brought it to life in Understanding Harry and not long after this i received a second email saying that he’d done it again, but i would have to wait til the morning when he loaded the story to red bubble, and he and I and hubby all savoured the moment….....waiting with baited breath, until upon waking in the morning two days ago, I was thrilled to discover this wonderful story had been written. I have some news to share with you!!! It is both brilliant wonderful enchanting and delightful all at the same time!!! Friend and writer iAN Derrick who, to quote his own words has been Socialistic humanist, designated friend of Fishes of Sahul, survivor of numerous occupations including commercial referee, motel management, professional aquaria and wildlife collector, book & record shoppe proprietor, Asian food business. Personal cancer creator, wheatgrass and sprout producer, brewer of green tea with fresh ginger, and sometimes as she is writ sorta bloke and who’s favourite food is yumcha, has just written a wonderful SHORT STORY and dare i say it, it’s all about MWA, me, and my girls (my creations)!!   Hey everyone, Well it’s a green light… we are going to publish a little book together…iAN Derrick and myself. The book is called Sea Sells Sea Cards by the Sea Shore and is such a delightful tale, with a beautiful message and really worthy of being published! The story is based on some of my characters, which is how the collaboration has come to be… iAN has written the story and some of my artwork will be used to illustrate the story. Briefly, it’s about a lady called Mrs T (lol) who takes a group of her characters on a picnic down by the sea…on a little journey of discovery! Also, thanks to Matt Mawson we made it into the Daily Wrap today!!! Thank you so much Matt for your wonderful support of this project!!! Thanks to the kind hearted Matt Mawson who is helping us with the technical side of making the book. It will be available in hard and soft cover in the not too distant future, and we’ll be sure to let everyone know when it is.

I have, and my idea is this…I am gonna put forth a weekly journal called Karin’s Weekly instead of all the little journals….in it i will put any sales and any news…rather like a blog…..   Hello :-) smiles happily Pretty much all of my time of late has been spent drawing… So much so I started to forget what sunligh…

  Hello :-) smiles happily Pretty much all of my time of late has been spent drawing… So much so I started to forget what sunlight looked like and dark shadows started to form under my eyes. Not a nice look… But! The weather here has been so beautiful, so warm and so alluring that I had to put my pencils down, put my trainers on and venture out into the woods. When i was a child i spent countless hours by myself playing around in the woods and streams… Amongst the trees i felt safe and strangely at home. I still love all things green and muddy so – i thought – why shouldn’t i play around in them now? I’m still a child at heart. And so… Amongst my drawings and writings and all things arty i’ve been enjoying tree climbing, stream jumping, shoe losing, t-shirt wetting, water splashing, muddy smelling madness. I know there is a lot of love for all things green and natural within our lovable redbubble community so i thought i would share some of my recent woodland adventures… Hurray for silliness! Oh… and this one below was me just after falling into the stream! I have seen some amazing trees, some were so incredible i will be using them as inspiration for a few new drawings. You know what would be wonderful? If this journal can inspire yourself to put on your wellys and go playing in a near by stream or randomly climb a tree. Maybe take your camera with you… You may just see something that inspires you to create your next masterpiece. Believe me… Its well worth it and it may just make you feel like a child again… Life’s far too short not to!

  Thank you so much to all my fellow bubblers’ well wishes with regards to my joint exhibition show :D I’m most happy to update you with the news that The Dreamer was sold yesterday to a Belgian(they are called Belgians right?) customer! I was down at the show yesterday….just to see how things were and of cos I dont deny the fact that I hope to meet someone who will love my work enough to buy….so I went around looking at others’ works…then I came to my own…and I saw 3 men looking at my owls :D So I mustered enough courage to introduce myself as the one behind the owls…so to cut the whole story short, one of the men said his mum is a super fervent owl lover and he’s looking for a birthday present for his mum! I couldnt believe my ears and my heart was just leaping with joy! So now The Dreamer is going to reside in some part of Belgium and in the loving hands of a fellow owl lover! :D I brought my cam along and wanted to take a shot with this customer…and guess what..no SD card inside, I left it in the laptop, so no pics to show here today. He did get his friend to take a pic of us so I really hope he remembers to email me :D The painting looks exactly like the framed print above…black frame with black board within :D Happy happy!   MIGALOOMAGIC is my new concept gallery at Red Bubble…below are the very first offerings! My Definition of Magic / Adjective – Wonderful, amazing or incredible, ie as in ‘a magic moment’ I think it’s very important to define magic, as for some people this is a stumbling block and something that conjures up images of black magic, darkness, and other practices which i don’t subscribe to… for the record I’m a christian who doesn’t head to sunday services each week, although i have spent most of my life doing that, it’s not where I am at this stage of the journey….and I’m not a perfect one by any means, I’m quite an unusual one by christian standards, and many feel i don’t meet the standards, but that’s ok…God and I are like this :D we’re tight, so it doesn’t matter what others think on that score…and I guess it’s unusual for me to use the word ‘magic’ when ‘magic practices’ are forbidden in the bible… but it is the where I am coming from that matters to God…He knows I don’t mean it in that way…so already, i apologise to any who may find it offensive or inconsistent, but I intend to keep the name as to me it only implies magic in this case as “wonderful, amazing or incredible, as in a magic moment”. / migaloo-pink-magic / / migaloo-blue-magic / migaloo-in-antarctica / little-lost-orca / rainbow-orcas / little-lost-orca tshirt / Moo Cow Sunrise / Little Moo I’ve been busy with a new concept…. / I wanted to bring parents something special to help them connect with their children… / I am busy creating a series of digital wall art, especially for children…for their bedrooms. My new gallery on Red Bubble is called migaloomagic / So far, I have created six conceptual pieces of art over there….but I am excited to show you anyway!! This is a gallery which I hope will provide gifts for children, for their bedrooms, for their birthdays…...I hope that it will bring parents closer to their children by helping them remember to tell their children stories, you know – the old fashioned kind of stories….the ones you just make up on the spot….. When the kids say….’tell us a story mum/dad/aunty/uncle/guardian/carer” i hope that you as a parent will gain an inspirational thought or two, from glancing up on the wall and seeing these whales or some other little idea from my artwork…to help you along :D Hugs to all, / Karin :D

  Yes! It was a day of triple thrills when I discovered I sold 3 of my zazzle calendars to a fellow zazzler :D Days like these are rare, so I was super thrilled. They are my first calendar sales, happy to have made some sales before 2008 comes to a close:D This is a collection of Ophelia portraits using pastels-acrylic on paper and wood :D This consists my acrylic paintings of Ophelia, Phoebe and Mel, a calendar that celebrates life and friendship :D This is also Ophelia :D She’s a finger puppet toy, less than 4 inches tall.
