this is my baby…at the moment…he was actually very, very ill…I hadn’t realised…he climbed up onto our sofa…on top of a soft cushion and promptly fell asleep…he was subsequently very unwell for about five days…and when I took this all I was thinking was “Isn’t my boy the most divine little man ever…” and “isn’t it lovely when they fall asleep” ...time for a cuppa ... wooops :)
It was a long day for Ella and her buddy…
In 1960s Scotland any self-respecting young lad had to have a sling – a more innocent weapon than that coveted today – the most harm it could do was smash somebody’s greenhouse. Now this photo had never been printed before until I discovered it last November, lying neglected in its protective sleeve.Do you think the diagonal tilting leads to a more dynamic composition? I like the ambiguous expression of the old man on the staircase.
A soft and subtle portrait of my dear wee grand daughter as we share a quiet picnic moment together on New Years Day 2008. She has a truly lovely heart and this to me portrays that perfectly. Featured in No More Color group, RedBubble, November 2009 / /

Worn Sand Piper is an extension from the original series of 9 Animal Designs that were created on 4” x 4” canvas blocks at end of 2007. Rather than using the selected blue, pink or yellow I’ve chosen a more muted tone with grey and black in acrylics and inks on a distressed photo that I had taken and printed on a piece of sketch pad paper. The animal design series represents what we could be left with if we don’t take care of nature and all it’s creatures. With their charming toy like appearance, they could just end up like childhood memories.
She is not a person that would smile all the time. But when she does, even a little bit…

Ophelia woke up exceptionally early this morning and took flight to Mount of A Thousand Dreams. Legend has it that thousands had visited this Mount and returned to their homes with renewed sense of hope for their dreams. Ophelia chose a spot near one of the Mount’s cliffs and set her sight on the vast landscape ahead of her. “What beautiful mountains and valleys!” Ophelia cried out in awe of what was before her and what followed immediately was a revelation revealed by her heart! In that moment of truth, Ophelia understood that none of us are meant to stay on a peak forever. There are new exploits, new worlds and discoveries that await us. Even as one has triumphed over the mountain terrains and conquered peaks, one also has to humbly make the descent and walk through the valley experiences in life in order to be on the other mountain where new things await us. With this, Ophelia’s resolve was greatly strengthened. (An artwork that’s dedicated to all who are going through the ups and downs of life in one way or another :D)

“He kept looking back over his shoulder as Mildred carried him out, and she was certain that he was thinking, we are not going to the lighthouse tomorrow; and she thought, he will remember that all his life.” Virginia Woolf, To the lighthouse
Just an everyday activity captured on film. I love how film can make the mundane seem so beautiful. Another medium format scanned negative – taken on a Hasselblad 500c.
