  • Someone (not from RB) remarked that they didn’t like the way I photographed my children in such dark tones and they felt children should be photographed in colour – they felt it captured childhood better – maybe they have a point – but I photograph this way to try and capture either a timelessness or the spirit of the moment – anyway, I haven’t listen and i have made an earlier image even darker – just did a bit of dodging and burning.

  • Just another day on the beach with the Parkins.

  • This is part of a series i have put together. I am growing ever fascinated with childhood, their thoughts and in particular children’s literature, art and so-called amusement – there is always an intense darkness about it – so i have tried to create dark images visually and psychologically – i didn’t ask Abe to pose but was pleased his head was turned because now i hope we look through him and discover our own thoughts (Hope that makes sense to you).

  • Louis sitting on our washing machine with his fav. toy… He has had this ‘tigger ‘since he was born and still sleeps with him or grabs him when he’s upset… this was taken the week before he started school (which was a really big deal for me)...

  • My daughter about 6 month old.

  • This image was inspired by my friend, the talented Simon Gladwin – (hope you don’t mind :))

  • This is one of my favourite shots taken on black and white film and taken in St Mark’s Square in Venice, Italy. I have scanned the print. I like the timelessness of this shot, I think. She was surrounded by the pigeons at first and she didn’t mind. But later, one flew on her head and she minded a lot. I recently made a sale on redbubble with this shot. A matted print in Off White to Lucy, my sister-in-law, in the UK. Many thanks so much for purchasing this. This shot was featured in the Urban Art Group and the I love Italy Group.

  • MEDIEVAL MAIDENS A Celebration of Motherhood and the Devine / I drew this work when my son was quite young (he is now 16-2008) / I was experimenting with different patterns and pen work, so it is quite sketchy. / It kind of evolved into something that looks Medieval somehow. / The Hare is one of my magical creatures that I feel familiar with- Hares, Bears and Cats. ORIGINAL AVAILABLE A4 (HAS GOLD DETAILS) £ 60 + P&P 1 sale to date- Art Card TOP TEN PLACING IN CHALLENGE CAFE “MOTHERS” / FEATURED IN THE DEVINE FEMININE -JULY 2009

  • this is my adorable son and our dog – the two of them have such a lovely bond it is really sweet to see and i think this captured it really well, but i can see why they say working with animals and children is not always the easiest thing to do… taken with a nikon D80 + 50 mm 1.4 nikkor lens on a tripod with a flash and soft box (over the flash) ISO: 100 / f/stop: f/1.4 / shutter speed: 1/250

  • This is one of the images that I submitted for one of my projects at university.

  • I have been scanning lots of negatives lately and came across these that I took last autumn. I didn’t initially print them because my beloved Leica R3 had a light leak – some negs were beyond saving but I have managed to get quite a few where I feel the light leakage has actually been beneficial to the outcome. I may be posting more from this series or might just put them on my website .. they work better as a body of work than singular. You get more of an insight into childhood and how a walk in a frost laden woodland opens up a new world to them.

  • Another image taken from a woodland walk last autumn. Part of a series which I hope to put up on my website very soon.

  • Another image taken on a Hasselblad and another image for my developing ‘Childhood Narratives’ portfolio.

  • I remember one of the loneliest times for me at school was when it was playtime. Looking around to see who and if you could play with someone. I think though it made me learn to like my own company .. I am still very much happy to be in my own world.

  • Best Viewed Large Love / Unconditional family love. A candid shot of a family walking on the beach at Rottnest Island, Western Australia. Chose to use Hard Mix on this as I wanted the family to be the focus without distracted surroundings. Camera – Nikon D90 / Lens 55-200mm FEATURED IN – Australia Your Standing In It

  • Another one for my series on school. And more work drawn from my relationship with school.

  • Was debating as whether or not to put this up as it felt a bit cheeky but it is an important image within my school series. This one was conceived as an idea about bullying. Thankfully I wasn’t bullied physically but I know people who were and it is terrible – it is one of my worse fears for my children too. I wanted to portray the isolation, betrayal and loneliness a child feels when they are bullied.

  • Hannah is rapidly leaving childhood behind, and turning into one of those strange beings we know as a teenager! Although she is nowhere near her teenage years, her attitude and general outlook on life is that of a budding teen! Nikon d40 18-55mm and editing in CS3, as this was snapped at my mothers without much thought to background or clothing! Natural light through patio doors. Aged 9
