/ Framed – off white matt in walnut boxed frame / / Greeting Card Magic Elephant is a pencil drawing on A3 Cartridge paper (acid free) which I’ve altered slightly digitally, adding some sepia and pastel flourishes, along with an overlay. The Magic Elephant is another of my latest works in the “Connecting” series, i hope you like her….thank you for looking :) / Looked like this before I coloured it digitally
My work was featured in the group Video Montage / ( Thanks Muscular Teeth and Butchart ) Excerpt from “Abigail’s Friends” written by Anthony Hedger illustrated by Carrie Glenn. ...“I think we better go back now.” She whispered to the butterfly. / “Why?” The butterfly asked. “It’s only my friends and they are having a special tea party just for you, come on and I’ll introduce you to them.” / “Er, ok, if you think I’ll be alright?” / “Of course you’ll be alright.” The red fox called to her. “Come on your tea is getting cold.” / So for the next two hours Abigail sat with Mr. Fox, Mr. Bear, Miss Rabbit, Ms. Blue bird and a hundred different butterflies and had tea and cake and chatted as though she had known them all her life. She gave each of them a big, big hug after and thanked them for making this the best birthday ever. / “Er, just before I do go home, how did you know it was my birthday anyway?” / “You could say a little bird told us.” The bear said gently and they all began to laugh…read more You can contact Carrie at: carrie@carrieglennstudios.com and please visit Carrie Glenn Studios* /
/ (Mocha timber frame/off white matt/medium size) / Greeting Card hand drawn on paper / digital painting Legend of Little Geisha / art and story by K Taylor (4/09) In the village of Ishekawa by the Sea of Japan lived a poor couple who wove and carved for a living. The couple had no real possessions but were content with the beauty of the mountains and the sea surrounding them, and happy to be together. The only thing they wished for and did not yet have, was a child to call their own. One day, an ancient crone visited their home and as always, the couple offered their hospitality, gave her rice cakes and sake to warm her belly. The old crone, in return for their kindness, bestowed upon the couple the ability to have a girl child. The child grew from a seed into a strong and beautiful young woman, glowing with pride and joy, she was the delight of Ishekawa by the Sea of Japan, and many young suitors came to visit and pay her homage. But as is the way with old crones, you can never quite trust them to do you a favour without some twist in the tale. Unfortunately, the seed from which the child grew, began to sprout roots, and she was bound to the earth. In time the beautiful young girl became a majestic tree and all the birds from near and far came to perch and nest in her branches, she gave them shelter from the wind and rain, and everyone who knew the legend realised the tree was actually the Little Geisha. / here’s the drawing (above) prior to being digitally coloured
now you know that the bird is not exactly exercising in the previous capture that I’ve uploaded a while ago titled “Tai chi session” ;-) / (see or click the preview below) —

Title: Innocent Partner / Medium: Acrylic on stretched canvas / Size: 500mm x 600mm This was a painting I recently finished. It was an art challenge held by the New Zealand Art Guild. Four things ha to be incorporated in an artwork, they were: / innocence, orange, umbrella and triangle. Here is Little Red Riding Hood (the innocent) although she doesn’t look it here…with the Big Bad Wolf who has offered her shelter under his umbrella as it has started to snow again. She is on her way to take some fruit (orange amongst them) to her elderly Grandma who lives in a cottage deep in the forest. I wanted to interpret ‘triangle’ in the three character relationship i.e. Little Red Riding Hood, her Grandma and the Big Bad Wolf. Alternatively sections of the umbrella are triangular in shape.
/ CHUNKIE Calendar Series One now available / / Chunkies are a new series of figurines I am working on .. / / CHUNKIE Birthday Fairy / / CHUNKIE Owl / / CHUNKIE Lotus Love on Golden Pond / / CHUNKIE Sunshine / / CHUNKIE / Elephant / / CHUNKY Diver / / CHUNKY Indian / / CHUNKIE Surfer / / CHUNKIE Ballerina / / CHUNKIE Geisha / / CHUNKIES in love / / CHUNKIE Hula girl / / CHUNKIE China / / CHUNKIE Lollipop Lover / / CHUNKIE Forest / / CHUNKIE Party / / CHUNKIE Pirate / / CHUNKIE Mod Girl / / CHUNKIE Tooth Fairy / CHUNKIE Mother and Child / / CHUNKIE Wedding / Next in line is CHUNKIE Tooth Fairy created from plasticine and some photoshopping….Tooth Fairy flies through the night sky collecting all the lost teeth in her little basket slung over her arm….there are nightflies and the stars and moon to guide her…although moon is sleeping…...have you ever seen the tooth fairy…she is cleverly disguised in her black frock…so as not to disturb the children while they are sleeping….but someone forgot to tell her that her white hair and wings and flower made from little teeth really shine brightly in the dark. This is a great poster for kids or a nice card to give when they lose their first tooth!!! A visit from the tooth fairy is always very very welcome!!! :) Once the Chunkies are created and photographed, I usually dismantle them to be used in the creation of more chunkies, so I am recycling the plasticine. These Chunkies have been very therapeutic to create over the holidays, whilst taking a break from red bubble and having my family around. I have many more to come, and although I won’t be on RB as much, I hope to also be doing some serious painting this year…so i look forward 2009 with much anticipation …

I remember as a kid I loved to secretly read at night, even though I was supposed to be sleeping. And as we all know, children have a very big imagination… =) A pretty simple drawing; I hope the background texture shows up, because if your monitor is set darker than mine, you might not see it at all. Did this drawing in Illustrator and Photoshop. Hope you like it! =D Also turned this into a t-shirt design.
Image for Calendar …made a few changes to it so i could use it in the calendar
