Worn Sand Piper is an extension from the original series of 9 Animal Designs that were created on 4” x 4” canvas blocks at end of 2007. Rather than using the selected blue, pink or yellow I’ve chosen a more muted tone with grey and black in acrylics and inks on a distressed photo that I had taken and printed on a piece of sketch pad paper. The animal design series represents what we could be left with if we don’t take care of nature and all it’s creatures. With their charming toy like appearance, they could just end up like childhood memories.

A color pencil drawing of a scene uncommon in the world we live in. A little girl holding tightly to her pet, a tiger cub. This is one of my favorite pieces. It shows the innocence of child and a tame look of an exotic animal.

I took 3 pictures and combined them, the BG is an abandoned park here and I shot the image of Cassa running in the road. the puppy is my japanese chin and I added the rain and puddles in PS. / Remember when kids explored their world?

This is a watercolor that I have been working on for years and finally gave up, and have it in my living room half finished. Today I suddenly had the inspiration to finish it digitally, so I photographed it and added the final details and did some color adjusting. / / The girl and kitty were modeled from a snapshot taken years ago of a former coworker’s daughter and her very patient and long-suffering cat. The picture was so grainy that my coworker asked me to scan it and see if I could clean it up somewhat for her. She was happy with the job I did, but I always wanted to paint it, to capture the joy and passion a child has for her first pet. / / /

This is Hudson (4) and Belle (who is not so tiny any more.) Hudson keeps doing these little doodles and drawings and bringing them to me and asking me to “put them in the computer”. While I love him to bits and think his creativity is great, I do kind of get tired of scanning endless abstract squiggles. So I thought I’d combine one of his artworks with one of mine, to make it more interesting for me… ( : So this is a portrait of the artist and his art.
