/ Madonna & Child Good news! My painting Madonna & Child has been selected to hang in the Manly Arts Festival during September. Madonna & Child was chosen along with 9 other artworks from a group of 53 entries The judging panel for the Mum=Mum2 Contest, comprised Angela van Boxtel – Creative Mums Founder & Director, Angela Cushway – Photographer and Director Angel Photography, Katie Brown – Writer ‘Mother Me’ and Karen Pini – Model and former Miss Australia. It’s the very first time I’ll have my work on display in the city, and I’m just so thrilled and excited about it! Just had to share my good news :D

we were coming up with something inspired by a work by an artist you like in art, so i chose ghostpatrol’s “rabbit trumpet fanfare” and came up with this.

This is the image I used for both the front and back cover of “Snow Man is my Friend.” It’s simple, but it’s kind of sweet at the same time. Wait. Did I just type, “It’s simple but it’s kind of sweet?” Who am I, Rachel Ray? This also marks the first drawing of the actual snow man from the book. No doubt some of you were thinking, “Why in the hell did he title a book Snow Man is My Friend if there isn’t a snow man in it?”

As a preschooler they gave you a plastic telephone to play with / “Hello?” you’d ask, “hello?” / But only your imagination spoke back / They say talking to yourself is perfectly normal / Even into a plastic phone / But what about when you answer too?

Here’s yet another illustration from “Snow Man Is My Friend.” More than any of the others, I think this is the one that scared away publishers. Pretty straight-forward stuff. No trees, now cute snow man, no metaphor, it is what it is. I like it. I think it’s solid, but it certainly isn’t your average picture book illustration.
