This little girl had the most striking eyes I’ve ever seen. ‘Meenakshi’ means ‘one who has fish-like eyes’: Meena (fish) + Akshi (eyes). The photo was taken on New Year’s Eve at Varkala Beach, Kerala, India. There were many Indian people on the beach and I went over to ‘hang out’ with them. This girl’s elderly grandmother asked me if I would take a photo of her grand daughter – I happily obliged!! I showed her the photo on the back of the digital camera, and suddenly I had 20 or 30 Indian women surrounding me wanting to look at the photo. The nicest thing then happened – when they saw the photo, they all wanted to touch my arm. It was my most memorable experience during the whole 6 weeks.

The miraculous mother and child connection. This project was done in two sessions. Before and after birth. / The baby in the image is the actual newborn at 1 week of age. This is a picture of my father-in-law holding one of his grandchildren. He loves children and they love him. I love the two ages of hands together in the way they appear in this picture. Total trust of the infant in his grandpa’s hands, and the protective grandfather’s hands enfolding the baby. I converted the original color full photo into a sepia tint and cropped it to just their hands for the just-brown challenge brownfeet and hands. Unfortunately, I did not learn of the challenge in time to get it entered. HDR enhanced Images Do Not Belong To The Public Domain. Sales of this TShirt ? – 1 sale so far :) / Madonna and Child TShirt by Karin Taylor / Created on brown paper with white acrylic gesso / pastels and felt pen, and a little photoshopping I thought this would be a nice design for mums-to-be or those still breastfeeding their babies, it’s often hard to find appropriate clothing for the times when we are the nurturers….you could also wear this to the hospital for after the delivery, etc. It would also be nice to wear around Christmas time :D I have also created designs for cards and prints in two other variations of this design, a welcome/congratulations card/print as well as one with a fresh whitebackground that would look wonderful in the baby’s nursery

To me, this photo symbolizes the beautiful journey of a father and son through life.. Silhouettes are my favorite thing to capture, there is so much emotion without even seeing facial expressions.
