This little girl had the most striking eyes I’ve ever seen. ‘Meenakshi’ means ‘one who has fish-like eyes’: Meena (fish) + Akshi (eyes). The photo was taken on New Year’s Eve at Varkala Beach, Kerala, India. There were many Indian people on the beach and I went over to ‘hang out’ with them. This girl’s elderly grandmother asked me if I would take a photo of her grand daughter – I happily obliged!! I showed her the photo on the back of the digital camera, and suddenly I had 20 or 30 Indian women surrounding me wanting to look at the photo. The nicest thing then happened – when they saw the photo, they all wanted to touch my arm. It was my most memorable experience during the whole 6 weeks.

To me, this photo symbolizes the beautiful journey of a father and son through life.. Silhouettes are my favorite thing to capture, there is so much emotion without even seeing facial expressions.

Sales of this TShirt ? – 1 sale so far :) / Madonna and Child TShirt by Karin Taylor / Created on brown paper with white acrylic gesso / pastels and felt pen, and a little photoshopping I thought this would be a nice design for mums-to-be or those still breastfeeding their babies, it’s often hard to find appropriate clothing for the times when we are the nurturers….you could also wear this to the hospital for after the delivery, etc. It would also be nice to wear around Christmas time :D I have also created designs for cards and prints in two other variations of this design, a welcome/congratulations card/print as well as one with a fresh whitebackground that would look wonderful in the baby’s nursery

A young baboon and its mother. Taken in the Masai Mara, Kenya, this young baboon was quite shy at first. After a while he lept up on to his mothers back and rode away, gazing back at me. The light at the time was very harsh, but this treatment in photoshop seems to have given the shot more depth. Was bored this morning but haven’t got time to get the camera out, so decided to have a go at some Hi-key work on an old portrait of Milo. Luckily I had kept the original RAW file. I’ve not really tried a high-key colour portrait before, so its a bit hit and miss… Nikon D300, 17-55 2.8 lens, natural light. Processed in Adobe CS3
