Matryoshka Family in the Pink is a pop-art collaboration of some fine art and digital manipulation. The original matryoshka on holiday was created using a mix of media including ink pastel acrylic and charcoal on canvas textured paper. I cut the doll herself out of the painting and gave her a new background in photoshop just repeating the same matryoshka and making smaller replicas of her !

CHUNKIE Pirate is made from plasticine/clay…...the boat is an origami brown paper boat I made from a template I found on the internet, and then I’ve coloured it in photoshop, applying stripes!!! The birds, palms, seastar and coloured stones are all taken from original paintings, one of the flags is made from plasticine and the other flag taken from a painting, other bits were created digitally, such as the sky…and the sand is a page from an ancient book i have in my bookcase at home…the pirate has a real earring made from pure silver and the anchor is black plasticine attached to the boat “The Seven Seas” with a silver ball chain…..he comes to you with open arms and hopes to brighten your day with his salty yarns from the high seas!! Once the Chunkies are created and photographed, I usually dismantle them to be used in the creation of more chunkies, so I am recycling the plasticine. These Chunkies have been very therapeutic to create over the holidays, whilst taking a break from red bubble and having my family around. I have many more to come, and although I won’t be on RB as much, I hope to also be doing some serious painting this year…so i look forward 2009 with much anticipation …

CHUNKIE Party is so pretty that even the butterflies follow her around…she has little flowers on the edge of her dress and the butterflies are very drawn to those…..she wears little glass and plastic glitter beads for her buttons and a party crown made from plasticine…..the paper dolls and butterflies are borrowed from felt cutouts in another painting I’ve done called Thoughts becomeThings / The flower in her hair is plasticine and their is a pretty little bead inserted therein….the foreground and background prepared in Photoshop, and borrowed intially from Art Chick / I hope you enjoy her! She’s available as greeting cards, posters and prints and makes a nice card for little girls birthday parties or for any celebration or special occasion that requires something bright cheerful and uplifting. Once the Chunkies are created and photographed, I usually dismantle them to be used in the creation of more chunkies, so I am recycling the plasticine.
