Thought i’d put a flower in her hands for something a little extra. When I got home and looked at the pictures a decided to try doing it in black and white with the red flower. Looks great i think! Anatas goes beyond his superb technical skills creating masterful photo-paintings,each setting a mood and telling a story. In his hands graphic computer programs are truly equivalent if not surpassing traditional art supplies.” MY NEW POETRY BOOK – The Day Met Itself

  • / / “Beach Picnic” is a pencil drawing which I’ve coloured digitally, I hope you like this image with mother and daughter in similar sundresses. As a child we enjoyed beach picnics all the time, mum would make us special fried chicken (better than Kentucky Fried) and we would go out on the boat to a little island, where i would play with soldier crabs for hours on end, while dad fished and mum sunbaked… they were wonderful times. We also went on the annual Beach Picnic to Bonny Hills with the church and we were great friends with the priest back in those days who was a top water skier.. We would see so many things at Bonny Hills, sea snakes slithered past in the creek where we were swimming and there were amazing white clay deposits in the sand….hours of fun were had by all… not to mention we even had a little mass there… top fun :)

  • Autumn 2009 – pencil on paper This was created using 2,4 and 5B’s (that acted like H’s) on a non-marked cotton rag paper that acted like a cranky toddler. 8.6” high x 11.75” wide This is the very naughty paper I bemoaned a while back. / I really wish I knew the name of it so to avoid it at all costs the rest of my life. But anyway, enough of my moaning, it’s done. This was a hard one to title. I really couldn’t figure out WHY I was drawing it in the first place. I started out a few months ago making it very large – 30” across, but that’s when I had a fit and tore the paper in half. The catholic in me had to find redemption so I took a little bit of it and decided to try it again. The image wouldn’t leave me alone. It was strange though – it didn’t want to title itself. It typically shows up close to the finish, but even just a few days ago, it was not here. Humpf. A few tried to flirt with me. Didn’t work. I thought I’ll just let it rest. Until yesterday, when life and it collided. A friend sent me that quintessential Anais Nin poem for other reasons and I knew that I must take the first portion of it for my title.. And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin / US (French-born) author & diarist (1903 – 1977) ......................................................................................................... And suddenly, it all made perfect sense. So bloom my dears, bloom… / (smile) (I’m very happy to report that a slightly cropped version of this was included (and sold) in the Australian Mirrors Art Exhibition) This photo below was taken November 1 at The Anderson Arts Center where the framed original made its debut. /
