This is our little chihuahua, Casper, in his favourite place (my bed). Trying hard not to wake up! This little fellow came to us as a rescue chihuahua after bad treatment (he was washed in a caustic solution to get rid of fleas, and hence had his skin burned …. but he is fine now). this image featured in the group Cats and Dogs (1 per day) in March 2009 / Thanks so much! and featured in the group Rescued Pets in March 2009. / Thanks again!
Me and my baby, Daisy. :)
Haven’t seen all that many dogs here on RB, so thought I’d try this one. Was actually doing shots of a friend’s Chihuahuas (I know I spelled that wrong), and this black cocker from next door just saundered in, curled up and posed and said “You fool… WHY are you wasting time on those idiots… take me now while I’m in the mood”. So I did. The Chihuahuas hated me and the cocker. The friend loves dogs so she didn’t care.
Coco – as her bitchy best, finding her own way onto the beach. / I like her little smug smile.
You might have the burning questioin as to what does a dog do on it’s day off?...well when your are a rescued little guy you find your favorite spot and fuzzy blanket and drift into an uninterupted nap. / Taking these stray, abanded, abused animals in has it’s moments when you realize to the fullest extent just how much you change an animal’s life as they get further and further from the fear and just learn to be a happy and content dog again. / Lil’ Bit still has some mildly assertive survival issues… but they are quickly fading as he adjusts and gains confidence that he has food to eat and a place to sleep. / He is quickly turning into a delightful, comical little taco-dog!!!
Our little chihuahua, Casper, was rummaging through his trunk today when he found this image of his Great-Uncle Casperson, as a boy, for whom he was named. I immediately thought to share it with you all! A bit of playful editing, in the style of these two talented artists, Martine Roch and my dear friend, Karen Scrimes both of whom have inspired the idea behind this image. The original vintage image was provided by lorivintage55 here This image featured in the group Graphic Editing 101 in June 2009. Thanks from Great-Uncle Casperson and me!
Our little Chihuahua, Casper, rolling around on the bed. We rescued him several years ago and he just loves us to bits – and vice versa of course! Canon 40D, Sigma 17-70 This image featured in the group Playful and Photogenic Pets in June 2009. Thank you so much from Casper and me! And featured in the group Funny Kritters in June 2009. Thank you so much!
My (rather chubby) chihuahua doing what he does best …
My first image on red bubble. I volunteered at an animal shelter in the USA for a while and took advantage of the chance to capture a lot of animals in this awful, and yet still a little hopeful, environment. This image was one of my favorites as it really captures the sense of fear and hope dogs share when locked away. Shot with a Sony A100.
This little guy (I call him Little Bit) showed up on my front porch about 2 weeks ago…Starved and ONCE AGAIN near collapse from dehydration. / He was actually one violent little dog in his delirium…if he weighted 3 pounds he weighed an ounce and tried to take me on and the rest of the dogs. / I seriously doubt if he had had food or water for over a week..other then field mice and bugs. / The other dogs had alerted me to something in the courtyard and when I went to investigate (cautiously)...could have been anything from a desert fox to a snake to coyote. I found this wasted away, pure white Chihuahua. Mind you… it is now edging up to 103 during the day out here in the desert of Nevada/Arizona…this is when you go to plan “B” if you have cats and/or dogs…they either have a swamp cooled garage/indoor kennel for the next 4 months or you let them in the house. There are not many dogs and cats that survive the 123 degree temps that will be upon us in a few short weeks. I guess my point to all of this is I now have another dog (current number is 5) and I see no end to this deplorable practice of disposable pets! / There is a moral judgement call here…there are no living shelters in Nevada..meaning all Nevada shelters have a 72 hour adopt time limit. All animals are put down if not adopted in 72 hours. / If you find you can no longer keep your pet and have had failed attempts at finding another home…is it more humane to take the animal to the shelter and let fate or destiny come into play?... or do you go and dump an animal out in the desert where it goes from having it’s own bed… to surviving in one of the most unforgiving environments? ...so I take them in…put up with the added financial and emotional responsibility…”Chula” goes this week to be fixed and “Little Bit” will be next…that is a whole other rant of mine… I just CANNOT UNDERSTAND PEOPLE who do not get their pets fixed. This is why our society is resulting to disposable pets. / But I need to get off my soap box…there are five faces lined up looking at me like I am a pork chop…time for dog food! / Since I owned my first animal…they always eat before I eat. / These photo’s of “Little Bit” are after two weeks of two meals a day, cool water and a little round bed to sleep in. / Stay tuned for “Little Bit” updates! / / /
