  • He goes by the name Pea.

  • Haven’t seen all that many dogs here on RB, so thought I’d try this one. Was actually doing shots of a friend’s Chihuahuas (I know I spelled that wrong), and this black cocker from next door just saundered in, curled up and posed and said “You fool… WHY are you wasting time on those idiots… take me now while I’m in the mood”. So I did. The Chihuahuas hated me and the cocker. The friend loves dogs so she didn’t care.

  • This is our little chihuahua, Casper, in his favourite place (my bed). Trying hard not to wake up! This little fellow came to us as a rescue chihuahua after bad treatment (he was washed in a caustic solution to get rid of fleas, and hence had his skin burned …. but he is fine now). this image featured in the group Cats and Dogs, one per day in March 2009. Thanks so much! and featured in the group Paws and Claws in March 2009. Thanks again!

  • Our little Chihuahua, Casper, rolling around on the bed. We rescued him several years ago after his previous owners used caustic soda to get rid of his fleas – and burned his skin. He healed up with only some bare patches of skin and of course he just loves us to bits – and vice versa of course! Canon 40D, Sigma 17-70 This image featured in the group Playful and Photogenic Pets in June 2009. Thank you so much from Casper and me! And featured in the group Funny Kritters in June 2009. Thank you so much! Yet another feature, in Cats and Dogs, one per day in August 2009. Many thanks!

  • You might have the burning questioin as to what does a dog do on it’s day off?...well when your are a rescued little guy you find your favorite spot and fuzzy blanket and drift into an uninterupted nap. / Taking these stray, abanded, abused animals in has it’s moments when you realize to the fullest extent just how much you change an animal’s life as they get further and further from the fear and just learn to be a happy and content dog again. / Lil’ Bit still has some mildly assertive survival issues… but they are quickly fading as he adjusts and gains confidence that he has food to eat and a place to sleep. / He is quickly turning into a delightful, comical little taco-dog!!!

  • Our little chihuahua, Casper, was rummaging through his trunk today when he found this image of his Great-Uncle Casperson, as a boy, for whom he was named. I immediately thought to share it with you all! A bit of playful editing, in the style of these two talented artists, Martine Roch and my dear friend, Karen Scrimes both of whom have inspired the idea behind this image. The original vintage image was provided by lorivintage55 here This image featured in the group Graphic Editing 101 in June 2009. Thanks from Great-Uncle Casperson and me!

  • Well since we last looked in on Lil’ Bit… he had made a trip to Best Friends Haven For Animals…started going through training to become a house dog and not a wild aggressive little Taco dog! / All was going well and then the little rascal decided to follow his nose one day and disappeared into the desert for over 5 hours. He was gone in a blink of an eye and no way could a person find this foxy little guy…especially in 110 degree heat…needless to say it was a tense 5 hours and we just had to hope for the best… They told us at Best Friends that it would be hard to break this habit of ranging out, following his nose and neutering was of the utmost priority. It had become a survival instinct even if he had a full bowl of food. He had pretty much gone “Native” during the months he had survived in the wilds of the desert…a huge challenge on our part to take this habit in check. / The very next day he was scheduled to have the neuter opperation..my husband says that he ran away on purpose…wanted to keep his little bag a jewels…LOL!! Well… he did return but upon very careful inspection…standing back and out of range of his huge teeth…it appeared that he had been mauled by a really big animal or a Hawk had tried to pick him up and carry him away. There were 5-6 puncture wounds across his lower back, hips and thighs. / It was going to be impossible to tend to him..he was in a heightened state of aggression and badly wounded. So fast forward to today…he has survived (how I don’t know) as he would allow no one to get close to him for the last three weeks…I would set food down and back away and he would eat every last bit…was drinking water and we would see him maybe twice a day come out from under this huge storage chest in our garage. No signs of rabies and no signs of infection …once again it is truly a miracle this little dog has survived yet another monumental life and death event. He does come in the house now…he still stays well away from myself and my husband…but I will catch him like this capture…from under his blanket just staring at me… / Lil’ Bit and I had became very close…he sat in my lap most every day while I was either at my drawing board or computer. / He his SLOWLY coming around…the pain of what happend to him must have been horrific…I could only offer soothing words and all the water and food (with ground up baby aspirin) he could eat… / Thanks for taking the time to read…send some good thoughts to Lil’Bit…

  • Yes…Lil’Bit (aka-Skinny) got well enough to go and finally see the Dr. about the neuter surgery! MAJOR advancement in our quest to help Lil’Bit become a happy little Taco Dog. For those of you just now reading about this little guy…we rescued him from the wilds of the Nevada desert…Found him on our front porch in a little ball, starved and near death. I woke up a few days ago and saw that he had gone in and laid down in the pet travel crate on his OWN!!! / I silently said my prayers and thank-you’s to any unseen force that may have finally given me a break…and I walked over quietly and closed the door. Well this wasn’t what he was expecting so we had some whining and fuss… but I was too busy calling the Vet hoping beyond hope they could see me and what a golden opportunity this was. / With luck they were able to work us in…it was quite the excersize for the Vet and her techs to now get Lil Bit out of the crate without the signiture biting response… I just told them I was going to leave…I didn’t want to hear or know how they decided they were going to handle him…to be careful and Good Luck! / Today I picked him up and all went off with out a hitch…needless to say, he is not the Favorite of the Vet’s office but they all seemed like they too felt they had passed a test being able to handle this over aggressive little 3 pound dog with GREAT BIG TEETH!!! / So we are home now…just awaiting recovery on his part and the hormone levels to slowly reduce so we can start a new chapter. / Wish us luck…I took this capture when he finally woke up in one of his favorite spots and told him the news…Thanks for taking the time to have a read and maybe a chuckle…
