Ride Like the Wind is a card from the Beach Series and Inspired Series by Karin Taylor….. / in the dark of night she escapes suburbia to find the giant swell of the rolling ocean beckoning her from the shoreline…..she notices a makeshift board on the edge, where the waves ebb and flow in a cheeky hello…....bracing herself, she skims the board through the shallows and onto the wave, which picks her up as though it were cradling her in it’s arms, throws her forward and there she stands in all her glory, the moonlight guiding her way to another land, where in the soft glow of the morning light ~ life will be gentler, people kinder and her heart can mend….... Well this is my latest, originally the piece was purple but i changed it with a warm filter also i punched out the contrast. (which is something Im planning to do from now on, to make pieces stand out more!)

Karin’s storefront iAN’s storefront This has been an amazing experience to be a part of….an enormous thank you to Matt Mawson who has tirelessly and generously worked over the past 2 days to bring this little book into being….. I could never have done it without you Matt! And of course a huge thank you to the amazing writer and friend of mine, one of those great Aussie characters that just keeps on keeping on, keeps on getting better with age…. that is iAN Derrick I first met iAN through a journal Matt wrote about one of iAN’s books, and since that day, we sorta hit it off….. I talked to iAN about my father and he also was inspired to write another short story called Understanding Harry and correct me if i’m wrong, but i think he may have been inspired to write a story that reflected some of the goings on with Matt’s four legged friend also. One day I got an email from the amazing iAN, saying although he thought my father should be the one to tell and publish his own stories, he’d had a little idea and brought it to life in Understanding Harry and not long after this i received a second email saying that he’d done it again, but i would have to wait til the morning when he loaded the story to red bubble, and he and I and hubby all savoured the moment….....waiting with baited breath, until upon waking in the morning two days ago, I was thrilled to discover this wonderful story had been written. A story about my characters…involved a certain Mrs T….but i will tell you no more, as it’s a must read…and you can read it over here She Sells Sea Cards by the Sea Shore Thank you iAN and Thank you Matt i am eternally grateful

Tube Chic by Karin Taylor / Mixed Media Production / / I used ink, pastel, acrylic and charcoal to create the original Tube Chic / So many women have taken up surfing in our area / I admit, I always wanted to, and a few years ago / lept on a mal and caught my first wave / with lots of yahooing / yeah it was the / best feeling :) Although I don’t surf much on a board these days, i prefer a body surf or some fun on a shark cookie (body board) lol….......a lot of my family do still surf…husband, son, daughter, brother .... heck my bro Tim was pretty famous once ….they called him Twister, for his amazing manouvres in the surf and sharp flix…and of course, they all nicknamed me ‘Twister’s Sister’ which was pretty cool at the time…..since then my bro actually has snapped both his ankles doing his cool trix in the surf…..once he had to swim in and drag himself up the beach trying to get help…...no-one was around…..eventually a 4wd came to the rescue down on the beach….loaded Tim up on the truck and got him some ambulance attention…...i took him to the hospital and passed out :)) / can’t handles hospital smells!! or is it the thought of blood….both!!

‘Beach Series’ card by Karin Taylor Still Waters sold very early on, but she is one of my favourite images. I was inspired by Margaret Preston’s work on this occasion, wanting to give the impression of a print somehow. This is a mixed media production in which I used ink, pastel, acrylic and charcoal.

Shes so sad…this piece took me ages to complete and has gone through sooo many changes!!! only now am i happy with it…the concept had completely changed numerous times as i was working on it, and now I felt more comfortable with a tight closed shot…
