This is a highly-detailed, vibrantly colored piece inspired by Mexico’s Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. I combined the simplified black outline of a skull with my usual funky abstract style to create an artwork that is vivid, boisterous, and jubilant. I like the paradoxical juxtaposition of the classic image of death and mortality – the skull – portrayed amidst colorful abstract forms and intricate designs, which express the fullness and joy of life. “Death By Menudo” is the story of two brothers torn from one another by an abusive alcoholic father. Sonny, age 3, is sent off to live with a loving foster family, but the older brother Chuy, age 18, creates an ellaborate plot to make his father pay for their endured hurt, but instead kills him. Chuy then flees to Mexico where he meets the love of his life, who is a young prostitute. But their love is doomed when her murderous pimp discovers relationship. When they try to run away together the pimp kills Chuy’s love. Distraught and barely sober, Chuy drives back across the border, but accidently runs over a young anglo girl, which lands him in prison for life –loveless and lonely for his family. His younger brother Sonny vows to save his brother and grows up to be an attorney, but is depressed by his failed attempts to liberate his brother, and thus, guilty, becomes prey to a former prison mate of his brother. The story is told by a young lady who works for Sonny’s law firm. Her name is Monica, and she too is plagued by an abusive parent, and longs for the love that she is being denied. Her connection to the story is somewhat of a mystery until it is discovered that she is the biological daughter of one of our leading characters.

Those spiritual expressions can make positive world changes. Brilliant colors and heavy brush strokes reminders of Paul Gauguin and the Mexican Muralists are glimpses into the artist’s persona. Picasso’s early works also influenced the artist’s Ideas and techniques that are envisioned and internalized from her formal education in Art History and Art Methods education at UC Berkeley., MA in Multicultural Cross cultural education /Languages/ History. / Her growth in art awareness has broken traditions in formal indoctrination to new dimensions from exposure to tribal galleries, world religions ,culture and the most needy of the human race . It is her creativity embedded in multicultural global influences that unite the interactionist into a commonality of human survival as one studies her paintings.All this and culture of poverty and violence, has had the most influence in her work.It also thrives to balance with the growth of human existence and the ability to adapt and turn negativity to beauty.
