THE SUBJECT: / This massive and beautifully coloured and patterned snake is a wonderful specimen of Morelia spilota cheynei (Carpet Python). THE LOCATION: / It was photographed during an annual event held between the Port Macquarie Panthers Camera Club and the local North Coast Herpetological Group called ‘Snakes Alive!’ We meet at a property owned by one of my fellow camera club members at Kundabung between Port Macquarie and Kempsey, NSW, Australia, for a photographic session with all their various reptiles and a BBQ. (No, we bring out own meat!) THE MAKING OF ‘Morelia spilota cheynei (Jungle Carpet Python)’: / Making this photograph was real thrill for me as I was only centimetres away fro the snake’s head and had fantastic eye contact with it during the shoot. / Fuji S550: High resolution jpg, Macro, 1/125sec @ f/2.8, ISO100, Hand held. / Photoshop CS. Visit the Amphibians & Reptiles collection in my BubbleSite Gallery for more sibilant serpents. [2098 views as of 18-12-09] Enjoy! SNAKES / (Click the links!) THE SUBJECT: / A beautiful Morelia spilota cheynei (Jungle Carpet Python) rests its head on a coil and displays the reflection of a nearby tree in its reptilian eye. THE LOCATION: / This serpentine close-up study was made on the property of our local Herpetological Society president in Wauchope, NSW, Australia on an extremely hot late spring day. THE MAKING OF ‘Snake-eye’: / After a hiatus of about two years the Port Macquarie Panthers Camera Club and the local Herpetological Society met up for a Snakes Alive! event. / They bring the snakes ‘n’ lizards, we bring the cameras, we all work together on a shoot then take a break for refreshments. / Canon EOS D60 & Canon 28-135 IR Lens: RAW, f/11 @ 1/125sec, 70mm, -1EV, ISO100, TTL on-board flash, Hand held. / Lightroom 2.2 & Photoshop CS3.
