While walking the streets of Cadiz with a tour guide, I noticed this wonderful doorway and the small courtyard and steps to another doorway beyond. Not the best of shooting conditions that morning, but the shot came out better than I expected. I decided against heavy retouching and to let the imperfections in the hallway stay as they were. This was a wonderful find and another unexpected surprise that we found in Cadiz. Although it was not an item on the tour guide’s itinerary, we wouldn’t have found it by ourselves.

Little Forgotten Angel… Historic Oakland Cemetery – Atlanta, Georgia
Skylands Manor, Ringwood, NJ
A work in reaction to censorship – in the art world (especially in Australia in recent weeks), movies, music and TV. If you don’t like it don’t look at it – give others a choice… I chose a cherub because it is such a widely known image – from classical painting to water fountains. A naked little boy that no-one seems to have a problem with… Having said that I am absolutely against child pornography, child abuse, violent non-consensual porn, and gratuitous sex and violence. My sun sign! Fish from San Francisco; a statue from the Thames embankment and a fountain I passed on a bus!

Listening to Etta James singing “At Last” is what inspired this little cherub or cupid angel with a violin… At last / my love has come along / my lonely days over / and life is like a song At last / the skies above are blue / my heart was wrapped up in clover / the night I looked at you / I found a dream / that I could speak to / a dream that I could call my own / I found a thrill to press my cheek to / a thrill that I have never known You smile / you smile / and then the spell was cast / and here we are in heaven / for you are mine at last Wishing you all LOVE and a Happy Valentine’s Day ;) xoxoxo AT LAST Drawing/paint with Wacom Graphic pad and a little redfield plug-in fractilius
My soon to be 13 year old granddaughter has been playing the violin since she was 3, with her upcoming birthday, thought I’d make her a T design that was personal to how I feel about her and her music passion. / As a junior high student, she currently plays first violin in a high school orchestra and will be doing 5 concerts this Spring in Italy. She is also considering attending a High School for the performing Arts in 2 more years. / But, I am not a proud Gramma – LOL ;) This is our SONG

THE SOUND OF SILENCE / By: Dale Crum Her dark tormenting silent world consists of relations based purely on vibration / Her distended unkissed lips became her swollen sensors of the faintest movement / The subtle scent variances of her bleak abyss environs serve as are her only friends / Textures decoded by divinely gifted finger translations mentally morph into imaginary playmates / Born homeless; forsaken and never found… she evolved by an absolute absence of caress / Into a tiny Einsteinian genius… yet without the notoriety of those of lesser intellectual prowess… / None may ever know the enormity of deciphered impossibilities within the context of such deprivation / How many empty quests of powerful nations do now reside beneath her blinded eyes? / Those most illusive answers… to the cataclysmic mysteries of mankind… forever frozen? / Unfound in the fleeting beautiful… unknown by exalted celebrity… unattainable with the riches of society… but achieved… only in the uncharted world of the silent. music

I found this poem, I think in an Abbey Press catalog several years ago now. There was no author mentioned anywhere in the description or in the artwork that it was used for. The pictures are my own. The alstromeria flower is from my Mother’s Day bouquet which I received from my husband. The angel is from a flower pot in our front yard. This photo was featured in “For The Love Of Jesus” in May, 2009. It was also featured in the group, “Reaching Out: A Christian Mission” on 6-6-09.

Starting with the woman’s face in my pencil drawing Least Resistance and then taking her to new places, (with the help of simple purchased Dover clip art for the “fairy”), this is one piece from a two piece set. I wanted to explore the duality and emotional shifts inherent in day to day life – and how that duality itself changes from hour to hour. / >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Sister image,Dawn / >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> As a canvas print: /
Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom), you can see the Cycle of Angels in the background. / The blue ones are Cherubs, the reddish ones are Seraphs. The cycle of angels depicted in the spandrels of the arcades in the high choir was executed by the Late Nazarene painter Edward von Steinle between 1843 and 1845 using a fresco technique on a gold background. / This hierarchically organized pictorial program showing the nine choirs of angels replaced the medieval paintings dating from the early 14th century, which showed angels with musical instruments and censers. In view of the fact that these frescos were almost completely destroyed by the nineteenth century, it was decided to replace them instead of restoring them. / The cycle begins in the West at the two eastern piers of the crossing and ends in the East in the smaller arcades of the chevet. The order of the angels in the fifteen arcades is in accordance with the Dionysian hierarchy. / Thus the nine choirs of angels are divided into three levels, each of which has three subdivisions. Moving from West to East, angels in the same level of the hierarchy appear on opposite sides of the arcades. Although the actual pattern in each spandrel differs, the unifying element in all of them is the golden background in front of which the angels seem to float.
