    A female green turtle (Chelonia mydas) hauls herself up a Western Australian beach at sunset. She’ll spend the next hour or two digging her nest and laying 100 to 200 eggs. She spent two hours digging a nest, only to decide it wasn’t good enough and move on to start again.

Some have a rest on the ocean floor, some simply just plot along like this one here.     Green Turtles (Chelonia mydas) are listed as endangered by the IUCN and CITES. Sadly these turtles are often accidentally caught in prawn trawling nets though thankfully turtle exclusion devices that allow the turtles to escape the net are now used in many parts of the world.

    One of my favorite marine animals is a sea turtle. Whenever I see a sea turtle under or above the water, it is a special, magical moment. They seem to fly effortlessly through the water. Regularly they come, depending on their activity on the surface for a breath of air.
