My cat Fi-Fille
My cat Boo
Saxicola torquanta. Devon, UK Stonechats are robin sized birds. Males have striking black heads with white around the side of their neck, orange-red breasts and a mottled brown back. Females lack the male’s black head, but have brown backs and an orange tinge to their chests. Birds are frequently seen flicking their wings while perched, often doing so on the tops of low bushes. As its name suggests, birds utter a sharp loud call that sound like two stones being tapped together. They breed in western and southern parts of the UK, but disperse more widely in winter. Although the species is not faring too badly in the UK, it is doing less well on the continent and is of European conservation concern, making it an Amber List species. They can be seen all year round, their usual habitats are heaths, conifer plantations or coastal sites, especially in southern and western counties. They feed on invertebrates, seeds and fruit (eg blackberries).
Model – Teagan Post-its are awesome. I saw a pack of them in the shape of lips for $1, and this is the idea that sprung to mind. / Yeah, my head is odd. Copyright 2008 Harmony Nicholas
Summer is great… Shot with Lomo LC-A — Used in The Lomography Calendar /
This shot was the main centre-spread of a feature I recently had published in Tokyo’s ‘Metropolis’ magazine. It has also featured recently in mags in Australia, Singapore and Poland. To beging with the guy hanging out of the window spotted me and then just wouldnt lean out again. I attached my camera to a 10ft monopod, put a cable-release on and held the camera out with an 11mm lens on it. He thought I had walked off and I still got exactly the angle I wanted….
Fi-Fille often hides behind the shower curtain.. She seems to think I can’t see her.. :))
I found the silhouette unmistakeable. Cats are such elegant creatures. featured in the Silhouette group – thank you very much! :-) featured in Domestic and Pedigree Cats – thanks so much! reached top ten in the “All cats” challenge in the For the Love of Cats group – thanks so much! reached top ten in the “One window composition” challenge in the Mood and Ambience group – thanks a million! :-) won first place in the “Secrets” challenge in the Mood and Ambience group – thank you to all those who voted for it :-)

A lonely cat in a lovely alley…
All images are © Copyright Rosa Cobos 2009 . All rights reserved It has taken me a lot of time to create a marvel place for them. Now it is there…and I just know the movement of the shapes and textures, that seem to engulf and create a transparency in both girls. Now..I have to look for a translation of the soul’s language musings. Where ….there…..was….. / hard stone, / steps high, / for giant’s legs, / heart’s of suns, / cremating the conversation, / of two souls sharing plans, / now , there is gold, / and leaves turned black, / waves incessant, / pearls of shadows, / birds in formation, / lost for ever, / into the blazing / of the night disguised / as a moon hot and wild. And…..the distance between…. / two hearts rows of musings, / is made for the air to course, / the space where …. / one can hear….what is told, / and tell what one would like… / to hear., therefore. / Secrets, confidences, smiles… / half concealed shyness., / low eyes, serching for security. / What I say, you leave there, / following the birds trails. / Please, let the warmth of sunset / create patterns of full trust, / like a painter, skillfull with his brush, / then you will take my story / to dream it all alone, / for this is how we feel, / when the sun is really gone. I translate for you my seconds, / and they will speak like hours. / You translate for me your hours, / and then….eternity becomes just a brief… / musing…. / slow musing… / Rosa © Copyright Rosa Cobos 2009 . Yay or Nay? I’m experimenting with some more extreme PP ideas, braking some of my own rules. Let me know if you think they work or not. Any ideas or suggestions more than welcome! I was waiting for the rest of my family to come back from Brighton Pier (dog-sitting, as dogs are not allowed on the pier!), when I spotted this couple of friends casually chatting in front of me. They couldn’t be more relaxed or less self-conscious. I guess it’s so easy to go un-noticed in such a busy crowded place :-) [Sony a350, Sigma 17-70@24mm, f:5.6, 1/160sec, ISO-100]
