Sanderlings move like a ballet, with a rhythm in sync with the beach waves. Most of the time we don’t take the time to watch this ballet, none the less it’s art by itself.

Look closely….. —-—-——- This is a composite image, created with a photo I shot while standing atop Warwick Castle, in England. The landscape is from the photo. I then added the turbulent clouds, and the little horse. I then processed the image in a way similar to tilt-shift photography, to give that odd appearance of looking like a train model. I love that look, and I hope you do too!

Libellula depressa. Devon, UK. The Broad-bodied Chaser is a European dragonfly with an approximate wingspan of 70 millimeters. The dragonfly is mainly found in Wales and Southern England and is active between the months of May and August. It is seen near still-water lakes and ponds, feeding on many types of small insects. The female has a brown abdomen with two yellow stripes. The male has a pale blue abdomen. Because of the male’s pale blue abdomen, they can be confused with the Black-tailed Skimmer, or Orthetrum cancellatum. Both the male and female broad-bodied chasers have dark brown, triangular patches at the base of all four wings. Their flight is very fast as they dart and dive above the water looking for food and fighting away rival males and any other Dragonflies they happen to encounter. They characteristically return to a favoured perch, in the sun.

Featured in National Parks of the World – Dec 2008. Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Northern Territory, Australia. Captured today… I jumped in my trusty old Toyota Landcruiser (Barry) and headed bush to chase this spectacular storm front. It was such an exhilarating adventure! We have now enjoyed several weeks of ongoing storm activity here in the desert. Today’s wild and rainy storms began at around eight this morning. Throughout the day, storm front after storm front has rolled over the desert, bringing with them heavy rain and exhilarating electrical activity. We have endured hail today, strong winds and even a lightning strike which sparked a small blaze in the National Park. And all of these incredible storm sessions were punctuated by bright sunshine and warm temperatures. Wow, I am thoroughly exhausted from following the weather today. I think I have storm-photographing-fatigue. / (A new member of the Elite Storm Chaser Squadron…) Uluru, Central Australia. Monday 24th November 2008. Sienna is so happy when she’s outside running around, but she was exhausted after a morning of chasing sticks.
