One of the deckhands for a fishing boat off the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska, takes one last drag from her hand rolled cigarette, while waiting for the morning fog to lift off the water. Deckhands only work seasonally but fishing in Alaska is not only a large commercial revenue source but also a draw for tourists. Someone pointed out as well, that there is a “fog-bow” present in the background just at the horizon level. Interesting little phenomenons. Seward, Alaska Circa 2007

Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery Vintage Tractor This Vintage Tractor takes pride of place at Belyando Crossing. Belyando Crossing 176 kms north from Clermont and 200 kms south from Charters Towers, Queensland. Belyando Crossing is on the Great Inland Way… a route which takes you from the central west of New South Wales through to the Atherton Tablelands and the Gulf Savannah Region of North Queensland. The present Belyando Roadhouse is situated on the site known as Mt Douglas and the original Lowlands Hotel. The area is steeped in history going back to Ludwig Leichardt’s expeditions in 1844, and Augustus Gregory in 1855… hence the name Gregory Highway. Gold mining and exploration still exists today both north and south of the Belyando River, with large deposits of gold mined commercially at Wiralee and Glen Eva mines in the Mt. Coolon district.

Walking around Edinburgh with Chris Clark we heard the pipes and rushed up to the High Street to find the Pipes and Drums of Lothian & Borders Police leading a march followed by The Royal Company of Archers. Here you can see the Company of Archers as they pass by St. Giles Cathedral. The Royal Company of Archers (The Queen’s Body Guard for Scotland), is the Sovereign’s personal Body Guard in Scotland. Founded in 1676, it received its first Royal Charter in 1704. The privilege of recognition as the Monarch’s Scottish Body Guard dates from 1822. It was originally formed as an Archery Club and the longbow is still the Royal Company’s principal weapon. This beautiful tall ship when not cruising around Sydney Harbour can be found moored at Cockatoo Island. Built in 1922 in Denmark of Danish oak frames, Svanen traded as a grain carrier between Denmark and Greenland for the Tuborg Beer Company until 1969. She was purchased in 1969 as a private vessel and extensively refitted to make extensive ocean voyages, including service as a sail trainng vessel with the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets. Svanen participated in the 1982 Tall Ships Race from Philadelphia to Portugal. In 1986 after appearing at the World Expo in Vancouver, Svanen sailed to England to join the Australian Bicentenuial First Fleet Re-Enactment for the historic voyage to Sydney. This Marlin has just been released. / Our marlin season has been a big one with some huge marlin caught and released. / This particular marlin is about 600lb with the ultimate catch being a “Granda” which weighs in at over 1000lb. / Far North Queensland is one of the worlds premier Marlin fishing locations due to the size of these beautiful fish that follow the warm currents to our area for about 3 months of the year. / Our charters this season have seen visitors from all over the world joining us to chase these heart stopping fish that will have your adrenalin pumping as you reel on the line in an attempt to have him beside the game boat. / All Marlin caught are released to fight another day.
