Kaskelot tall ship in Charlestown Harbour Cornwall England. Sea Fever I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky, / And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by; / And the wheel’s kick and the wind’s song and the white sail’s shaking, / And a grey mist on the sea’s face and a grey dawn breaking. I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide / Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied; / And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying, / And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying. I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life, / To the gull’s way and the whale’s way where the wind’s like a whetted knife; / And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover, / And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick’s over. Zakim Bridge in Boston, MA. Taken on one of the two days the bridge was open to foot traffic to celebrate the bridge’s completion. The bridge was the widest cable-stayed bridge built prior to 2003. Post production includes extra grain and a diffused color filter.

A view from Charlestown Harbour Cornwall UK. I captured this image looking out to the cliffs from the harbour walls. The break in the clouds provided a wonderful warm light on the rocks and a beautiful reflection on the surface of the water. Camera Nikon D40x with 18-55mm Lense. /
A view of the tall ships in Charlestown Harbour Cornwall. Charlestown in close to St Austel in Cornwall. I love the interplay of light and darkness in this image. The Light was changing rapidly on this day, and catching the harbour in bright light was proving to be a challenge. It reminded me of how often we come into the light of Jesus Christ, we are overwhelmed by the beauty and majesty of His presence in worship, then we leave that space and the darkness of reality hits home: People are dying, young boys are being stabbed, and dreadful news hits the headlines. Then the light shines again; a new baby is born, an old lady recovers from an operation, and a young man gives his heart to the Lord Jesus. The Light shines in the Darkness, but the darkness cannot overcome the light.
Captured at Charlestown Harbour in Cornwall UK / Featured in / / Thank you sooooo much to the folks who love little harbours in Cornwall. I love this ancient fishing harbour. Almost unspoilt by modern way, and could be any era in English Maritime history. A Great place for photographers with so many wonderful and interesting things to see and photograph. / For instance there is an Artist who’s studio is open to the public, and you can actually go in a watch him painting (can’t remember his name), but he was producing some lovely work. I did take a couple of pictures but with have to go back and ask him to pose again for me. He was very obliging. Then there are some great little pubs for a drink of good English beer, served quite cold too (don’t listen to the myth about warm beer in England). I liked this harbour full of tall ships, little fishing boats (when they are all at home) and some historic life-boats and the life-boat museum too. You’ll really have some wonderful photo opps in Charlestown. Enjoy! Don.

Kaskelot: Charlestown Harbour Cornwall. A very traditional fishing harbour in the midst of modern redevelopment in Cornwall. This place gets lots of tourists every year by the bus-load:) I love this tranquil harbour in the early mornings or late afternoos when the light is just right for photographers. Magical! Don. Sail Boston 2009, / Boston National Historical Park – Charlestown Navy Yard. The Boston Navy Yard, originally called the Charlestown Navy Yard and after 1945 called Boston Naval Shipyard, was one of the oldest shipbuilding facilities of the United States Navy. Established in 1801, it was officially closed July 1, 1974, and the 30-acre (120,000 m2) property was transferred to the National Park Service to be part of Boston National Historical Park. Enough of the yard remains in operation to support the USS Constitution. The USS Cassin Young, a World War II-era destroyer serving as a museum ship, is also berthed here. Among people in the area and the National Park Service, it is still known as the Charlestown Navy Yard Nikon D60, 18-55 mm, raw
